Company overview

ServiceNow helps businesses and government organizations coordinate work across departments and existing software systems. Its ServiceNow AI Platform brings together data, AI and workflows so that tasks such as managing technology operations, handling customer service and processing HR requests can move through connected processes rather than separate systems.

Customers pay mainly through subscriptions, which include access to the service, support and updates. ServiceNow generally bills annually in advance and sells through its own sales team as well as resellers and managed service providers. Some AI and data offerings carry additional usage charges once customers exhaust the credits included in their subscriptions. ServiceNow and its partners also help customers configure, integrate and implement the software.

The business depends on customers successfully putting the platform to work and continuing their subscriptions, making qualified implementation partners important. Government customers supply a growing share of revenue; its U.S. federal business relies on a small number of third-party providers and requires government authorizations and certifications. Data privacy, localization and cross-border transfer rules also restrict where and how ServiceNow can process customer data and deploy its services.
