Large businesses and government agencies use Pegasystems’ Pega Platform and applications to handle customer interactions, automate service and internal workflows, and modernize older systems. The software combines AI that helps decide what action to take with workflows that carry out the work. Clients can have Pegasystems run their applications through Pega Cloud or manage deployments themselves on their chosen cloud infrastructure.
Most revenue comes from subscriptions, including Pega Cloud, software licenses and maintenance. Clients also pay for consulting to implement and use the software. Continued business depends on clients renewing subscriptions and buying additional applications for other parts of their operations; successful implementation and support help sustain those purchases.
Partners help sell and implement the software, while third-party cloud providers supply the infrastructure for Pega Cloud. Pegasystems must also comply with privacy, data-security and AI rules, including restrictions on accessing or transferring client data across borders.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Appian Corporation competes with Pegasystems to sell process-automation software to financial services, government, insurance and manufacturing customers, while their trade-secret lawsuit adds a direct financial risk for Pega. Watch the retrial: the earlier judgment was overturned, damages remain uncertain, and an adverse outcome could force Pega to raise debt or equity.
ServiceNow competes with Pegasystems for enterprise spending on software that runs customer service and lets staff build workflow applications with little coding. Its customer-service products and low-code development tools are the areas to watch for competitive pressure on Pega.
Salesforce competes with Pegasystems for businesses' budgets to manage customer relationships, automate sales and run customer service. Watch how its Agentforce 360 platform brings applications, data and AI agents together for customer-facing workflows—the overlap with Pega is here, rather than across Salesforce's entire subscription business.
Fair Isaac's FICO Software business competes with Pegasystems for customers buying automated decision tools, banking fraud software and marketing applications. Watch Software rather than total FICO revenue: its separate Scores business earns fees from credit scores and adds credit-market exposure that Pega does not share through this rivalry.
International Business Machines competes with Pegasystems for enterprise customers modernizing workflows and buying software that automates decisions. IBM's work using AI and hybrid cloud to modernize applications is the relevant competitive signal, rather than its broader infrastructure and financing businesses.
Microsoft competes with Pegasystems for enterprise software budgets through Dynamics, which overlaps with Pega's customer-engagement applications, and Power Platform, which overlaps with its tools for building workflows with little coding.
SAP competes with parts of Pegasystems' workflow and customer-engagement business through cloud applications that enterprises subscribe to and tools for developing business processes. Watch SAP BTP's application development, extensions and integrations, where its cloud-suite strategy overlaps with Pega's platform.
Oracle competes with Pegasystems for enterprise spending on software that manages customer relationships and customer experiences, including deployments at communications providers. News about those applications in communications is more relevant to Pega than Oracle's broad cloud, hardware and services results.
Amdocs Limited competes with Pegasystems for communications and media providers buying customer-experience software, and also gets paid to implement and operate customers' systems. Watch its customer-experience work for telecom, broadband and media customers for a focused view of competition in one of Pega's customer groups.

Pegasystems' report will show whether it can keep moving enterprise customers to cloud subscriptions while preserving the profitability of that business.
Read subscription revenue and annual contract value (ACV, the annualized value of active contracts) alongside Pega Cloud revenue and gross margin. Continued growth in the first two, with the cloud margin holding or rising, would show that customer migration is adding revenue without hosting costs eating away the benefit. Slower subscription and ACV growth alongside a falling cloud margin would suggest the shift may not be replacing lost maintenance revenue or delivering enough scale economies.
Fair Isaac Corporation earningsFICO
Fair Isaac's report will show how demand for automated decision software is holding up, an area that overlaps with Pegasystems' decisioning products.
Focus on Fair Isaac's Software business revenue, not total revenue, which also includes its credit-score business. Stronger Software revenue would show continued enterprise demand for automated decision tools, while also pointing to momentum at a competitor to Pegasystems in this product area. Weaker revenue could reflect softer demand or Fair Isaac-specific pressures; it would not establish that Pega won the business.
Appian Corporation earningsAPPN
Appian's report will show whether enterprise spending on process-automation software is strengthening, in the market where it competes with Pegasystems for customers.
Look at Appian's software revenue growth and what it says about demand from process-automation customers. Stronger software revenue would point to ongoing enterprise spending in this market and momentum at a direct competitor to Pegasystems. Slower growth could reflect softer demand or Appian-specific execution; on its own, it would not show that Pega is winning customers.
Salesforce, Inc. earningsCRM
Salesforce's report will show whether businesses are putting more into customer-service and sales-workflow platforms, where it competes with Pegasystems for budgets.
Look for Salesforce's commentary on demand for customer-service and sales applications, including workflows tied to Agentforce 360. Stronger demand or adoption would show that businesses are still funding customer-operations software and that Pegasystems faces a stronger rival in customer engagement. If that demand looks weak, the competitive signal fades, but it does not mean Pega is winning customers.
