Company

Company overview

Namib Minerals’ current revenue comes from How Mine in Zimbabwe, where it mines and processes ore to recover gold. Gold accounts for nearly all revenue, with a small contribution from silver. Zimbabwean law requires the company to sell all its gold to Fidelity Gold Refinery, Ltd., a government-controlled buyer, at prices reflecting the gold spot price. Fidelity pays partly in U.S. dollars and partly in local currency, in proportions set by the government. Cash generation therefore depends on gold output and prices, and on this single buyer making payments.

Its other mines, Mazowe and Redwing, are under care and maintenance rather than producing. Namib Minerals is preparing to restart them while investing in How Mine’s expansion. The restarts require substantial external financing and renewal or reissuance of expired operating permits before commercial production can resume.

Know what’s buried in NAMM’s filings before you buy

The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.

Namib Minerals’ results hinge on How Mine’s output and gold prices, but watch Fidelity Gold Refinery, its legally required sole gold buyer, and Zimbabwe’s rules on payment in dollars versus local currency.

  • Caledonia Mining Corporation Plc is a close comparison for Namib Minerals: both mine and sell gold in Zimbabwe, exposing them to gold prices and local mining, currency and regulatory conditions. Watch production at Caledonia’s Blanket mine for a local operating comparison with How Mine.

  • Higher gold sale prices support both Harmony Gold and Namib Minerals, whose operating revenue comes predominantly from selling gold. Harmony’s higher gold revenue in fiscal 2025 was mainly driven by higher dollar prices received—the same support that cushioned Namib’s lower production in 2025.

  • B2Gold Corp. shares Namib Minerals’ gold-price exposure, with mines in Mali and Namibia offering a regional production comparison. B2Gold sells gold at market prices to bullion dealers and refiners without relying on one buyer, unlike Namib’s legally required sales to Fidelity.

  • AngloGold Ashanti shares Namib Minerals’ exposure to gold prices and African mining conditions through production in several African countries. It sends mined gold for refining and sells it to bullion banks; its African operations provide a regional comparison, not a Zimbabwe-specific one.

  • Gold Fields and Namib Minerals both generate cash by producing and selling gold, with Gold Fields’ South African and Ghanaian mines adding a regional comparison. Watch its realised gold prices alongside sales: both helped lift profitability and cash generation in 2025.

  • Barrick Mining Corporation shares Namib Minerals’ gold-price exposure and some African mining risks through its African gold mines. Its earnings also come from copper, so its gold-mine results are a closer comparison for Namib than its overall results.

  • Newmont Corporation and Namib Minerals both produce gold, so gold prices and mining costs affect both despite their very different scale. Watch Newmont’s energy, labour and equipment costs alongside ore grades for a comparison of the pressures on gold-production profits.

  • IAMGold Corporation shares Namib Minerals’ exposure to the gap between gold sale prices and production costs. Its Côté Gold and Westwood mines in Canada and Essakane mine in Burkina Faso offer operating comparisons outside Zimbabwe.

  • DRDGOLD Ltd. shares Namib Minerals’ main gold-price driver, but recovers gold from leftover mine waste at the surface—tailings—in South Africa rather than underground ore. It sells refined gold to South African bullion banks, making its gold sales a more useful comparison than its extraction method.

  • Equinox Gold Corp.’s mining margins respond to gold prices like Namib Minerals’ as it produces unrefined gold bars, known as doré, from operating mines. After refining, its buyers include international bullion banks, traders and refiners, so it does not share Namib’s reliance on a sole gold buyer.

  • Idaho Strategic Resources, Inc. shares Namib Minerals’ exposure to gold production, but operates in Idaho and also holds rare-earth projects. Gold output from its Golden Chest mine and processing at its New Jersey Mill are the closer comparison with Namib’s How Mine.

  • Pan American Silver Corp. shares Namib Minerals’ gold-price exposure, but less exclusively because silver is also a principal product. Its gold production is the relevant comparison for Namib, rather than results that also reflect sales of silver, zinc, lead and copper.

    Fed Interest Rate Decision

The Fed’s decision on its policy interest rate matters to Namib Minerals because changes in broader borrowing costs may pass through to the corporate base rate on its variable-rate Banc ABC facility, changing interest paid on that debt.
