IAMGold Corporation is a Canada-based mining company that extracts and processes gold-bearing ore. It produces unrefined gold bars, which are refined into bullion and sold at market prices to buyers such as financial institutions and metals trading businesses. Gold sales provide most of its revenue.
Essakane in Burkina Faso and Côté Gold in Ontario generate most of the revenue; Westwood in Québec is a smaller operation. IAMGold operates Côté Gold with Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and owns the majority interest. It also holds a majority interest in Essakane, where Burkina Faso’s government owns a minority stake.
Revenue depends on how much gold the mines produce and the market price of gold. Security incidents around Essakane pressure supply routes and add transport and protection costs. Mining requires government permits, and Burkina Faso’s gold royalties rise with gold prices. Cash available to the parent also depends on transferring funds from Essakane; delayed government VAT refunds can constrain the mine’s cash flow and distributions.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
IAMGOLD’s results hinge on gold prices and execution at Essakane and Côté Gold, where Sumitomo Metal Mining is its 30% partner.
Equinox Gold and IAMGOLD share exposure to gold prices and production ramp-ups at major Canadian open-pit mines; both sell unrefined gold bars that ultimately reach bullion buyers and refiners. Greenstone and Valentine’s production progress offers a comparison for Côté Gold’s output and cash generation.
B2Gold and IAMGOLD both mine gold in Canada and West Africa and sell at market-linked prices, so gold prices matter to both. B2Gold sells to bullion dealers and refiners; its Goose and Fekola operating results provide regional comparisons for IAMGOLD’s Canadian mines and Essakane.
Alamos Gold and IAMGOLD both produce gold in Ontario, making gold prices and Canadian mining costs shared earnings drivers. Watch production at Alamos’s Island Gold District and Young-Davidson as comparisons for IAMGOLD’s Canadian operations.
Agnico Eagle and IAMGOLD both operate Canadian gold mines, so gold prices and mining costs shape both companies’ earnings. Agnico sells its production at spot gold prices; its per-ounce production costs offer a comparison for IAMGOLD’s cost pressure.
Kinross and IAMGOLD share gold-price exposure and substantial African mine production alongside mines in the Americas; both sell refined gold to banks and refiners. Kinross’s Tasiast mine in Mauritania contributed 24% of its 2025 gold-equivalent production, making its operating performance a useful African comparison for Essakane.
Allied Gold owes IAMGOLD payments when Sadiola’s sulphide project reaches production milestones, beyond their shared exposure to West African gold mining. Watch the first 250,000 ounces and the next 250,000 ounces: each triggers a tranche of which IAMGOLD receives half.
Franco-Nevada receives 7.5% of Côté Gold’s margin after cash operating costs through a gross-margin royalty, directly tying its income to IAMGOLD’s mine output, gold prices and costs. Unlike most of Franco-Nevada’s revenue, this payment falls when the mine’s cash operating costs rise.
Eldorado Gold and IAMGOLD both sell unrefined gold bars from Canadian mines and also operate abroad, giving them shared gold-price and Canadian operating-cost exposure. Eldorado’s Lamaque Complex sells to Ontario refineries, making that operation the closest comparison for IAMGOLD’s Canadian gold business.
AngloGold Ashanti and IAMGOLD share exposure to gold prices and African mining costs and government policy; both refine mined gold for bullion-market buyers. Watch AngloGold’s African operating news for comparisons with the local cost and policy pressures facing Essakane.
Barrick and IAMGOLD both have substantial African gold-mining exposure, linking earnings to gold prices and regional operating risks. Barrick’s African gold-mine results offer comparisons for Essakane, but its copper business makes group earnings a less direct gold comparison.
Newmont and IAMGOLD mine gold internationally, with margins shaped by bullion prices and energy, labour and equipment costs. Newmont’s reporting on these mining inputs helps put IAMGOLD’s per-ounce cost changes in context.
Gold Fields and IAMGOLD both generate cash by producing and selling gold, so higher realized prices expand their mining margins. Gold Fields’s average received price rose 45% in 2025, illustrating the gold-price support that also helped Essakane’s cash generation.
Metalla Royalty & Streaming holds rights to production-linked payments over part of Côté and all of Gosselin, tying those assets’ value directly to IAMGOLD’s production and development. Watch news on the royalty-covered deposits, rather than treating Metalla as another mine operator.
Centerra and IAMGOLD both operate Canadian gold-producing mines, sharing exposure to gold prices and Canadian operating costs. Centerra’s Mount Milligan also produces copper, while its Langeloth facility upgrades purchased molybdenum concentrates for metallurgical and chemical customers, making group results less gold-focused than IAMGOLD’s.
Aris Mining and IAMGOLD both sell unrefined gold bars to refiners and rely on expansions and production ramp-ups for growth. Aris’s Segovia ramp-up after its processing-plant expansion offers a comparison for converting added capacity into gold output at Côté.
Aura Minerals shares IAMGOLD’s sensitivity to gold prices and mine performance, earning most of its revenue from gold-producing mines. Gold accounted for 73% of Aura’s 2025 revenue, so watch its gold operations separately from copper and gold-concentrate sales when comparing results.
IAMGOLD depends on Caterpillar’s mobile mining equipment and financing at Côté, making fleet availability and support relevant to mine output. Caterpillar manufactures the equipment and finances customers’ purchases and leases; watch support for Côté’s fleet rather than Caterpillar’s overall sales.
Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. earningsAEM
Agnico Eagle's report will show whether per-ounce costs at a Canadian gold miner are rising, a useful cost-pressure comparison for IAMGOLD's Canadian mines.
Read Agnico Eagle's per-ounce production costs against IAMGOLD's latest reported per-ounce costs; their mine mixes differ, so this is a benchmark, not a like-for-like test. Stable costs would suggest pressure is not necessarily broad across Canadian gold mining. Rising costs would flag a possible shared squeeze, but would not establish the cause or scale at IAMGOLD's mines. The takeaway is whether the comparison points to a wider cost headwind, not how IAMGOLD itself performed.
Kinross Gold Corporation earningsKGC
Kinross's Tasiast results offer a West African operating comparison for IAMGOLD's Essakane mine, though the two sites face different local conditions.
Compare output and costs at Kinross's Tasiast mine with IAMGOLD's operating results at Essakane. Steady Tasiast output and costs would make local factors at Essakane a more likely explanation for any weakness there. If Tasiast also shows lower output or rising costs, that would raise the possibility of wider regional operating pressure, but conditions in Mauritania do not prove the same applies in Burkina Faso. The conclusion is whether Essakane's pressure looks more site-specific or worth watching as a broader regional risk.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
IAMGOLD sells its gold at market rates, so Fed decisions that affect borrowing costs and gold prices can change the revenue it earns from gold sales.
Expected4.0%Last release4.0%
If it comes in above expectations
Higher rates can make new borrowing and debt that reprices more costly, raising IAMGOLD’s interest expense; if that also weighs on gold prices, the company may earn less from gold sales.
If it comes in below expectations
Lower rates can make new borrowing and debt that reprices cheaper, easing IAMGOLD’s interest expense; if that also supports gold prices, the company may earn more from gold sales.
Caterpillar Inc. earningsCAT
Caterpillar's mining-equipment and service updates will show whether support for the fleet IAMGOLD relies on at Côté Gold may be constrained.
Look for Caterpillar's comments on mining-equipment deliveries, service and customer financing; its overall sales do not establish the condition of Côté Gold's fleet. Reliable supply and service would reduce the chance that equipment support holds back Côté's output. Tighter availability or repair support could disrupt production or add costs, but would not prove Côté itself has a problem. The takeaway is whether supplier conditions add a risk to IAMGOLD's Côté operation.
Allied Gold Corporation earningsAAUC
Allied Gold's Sadiola sulphide-project progress may show whether production milestones trigger payments to IAMGOLD.
Watch whether the Sadiola sulphide project reaches its first 250,000 ounces of production, or the next 250,000-ounce threshold; each triggers a tranche, half of which IAMGOLD receives. Reaching a threshold means a project-linked payment is triggered; falling short means that cash has not yet been triggered and should not be confused with revenue from IAMGOLD's operating mines. The conclusion is whether Sadiola progress brings a milestone payment, not how IAMGOLD's mines are performing.
IAMGold Corporation earningsThis company
IAMGOLD's report will show whether gold sales from its three mines are generating more cash after the cost of producing each ounce.
Read gold ounces sold and the realized gold price alongside all-in sustaining cost per ounce, a measure of the cost of sustaining current production. Higher sales or prices with costs contained would show Côté Gold, Westwood and Essakane turning more of their output into cash; if costs rise faster than sales or price gains, especially at Essakane or Côté, operating pressure is absorbing the benefit of gold revenue. The conclusion is whether IAMGOLD is keeping more cash from the gold it sells.
Equinox Gold Corp. earningsEQX
Equinox Gold's Canadian open-pit ramp-up will show whether added mine capacity is becoming gold output and cash, a comparison for IAMGOLD's Côté Gold.
Read production progress at Equinox Gold's Greenstone and Valentine mines alongside whether added capacity is generating cash, then compare that path with Côté Gold's output and cash generation. If production and cash rise together, new open-pit capacity is translating into sales and cash; if output ramps slowly or cash lags, the move from expansion to steady production remains an execution risk. The mines differ, so this is a comparison, not proof of Côté's performance. The takeaway is whether ramp-up execution is a risk to watch.
Franco-Nevada Corporation earningsFNV
Franco-Nevada receives 7.5% of Côté Gold's margin after cash operating costs, so its report reflects changes in the mine's output, gold price and costs.
Look for Franco-Nevada's royalty income from Côté Gold: the 7.5% gross-margin royalty is calculated after cash operating costs, so higher costs reduce the margin it shares in. A stronger contribution would mean output or gold-price gains outweighed cost pressure; a weaker one could reflect lower output or prices, higher costs, or both. Franco-Nevada has other assets, so its group total is not a direct measure of Côté. The conclusion is whether Côté's margin after cash operating costs is widening or narrowing.
