Company

Company overview

B2Gold Corp. operates the Fekola gold mine in Mali, Masbate in the Philippines, Otjikoto in Namibia and Goose in Canada. It extracts gold from ore and sends the resulting metal for refining to market-delivery standards; Fekola, for example, ships its unrefined gold bars to Rand Refining in South Africa. Bullion dealers and refiners buy its gold at market prices. Fekola supplies most of the company’s gold revenue, but B2Gold does not depend on any single buyer or refining provider.

The business depends on the price received for gold and the cost of extracting it, including how much gold the ore contains and how much processing recovers. Mining also requires government licences and environmental approvals. Planned additional ore supply from Fekola Regional depends on an exploitation permit that remains outstanding; it is not an established source of production.

BTG says it has a moat. Does it hold up?

  • IAMGold Corporation shares B2Gold’s exposure to gold prices and West African operations, while both also rely on major Canadian gold mines. Its Côté Gold production is a useful comparison for B2Gold’s Goose ramp-up, though the mines have separate operating risks.

  • Barrick Mining Corporation and B2Gold both earn money from gold mines, so gold prices and Mali’s mining environment matter to both. Barrick’s news on its Mali operations is therefore worth watching alongside B2Gold’s Fekola updates.

  • Kinross Gold Corporation and B2Gold both sell gold into the world bullion market, so gold prices affect their sales, and African mines contribute materially to both businesses. Kinross sells refined gold to banks and refiners; its Tasiast mine in Mauritania supplied 24% of its 2025 gold-equivalent production.

  • AngloGold Ashanti and B2Gold share exposure to gold prices and African mining conditions because both produce gold for bullion markets and have substantial African operations. AngloGold Ashanti sends its partly refined gold to refineries, then sells the refined metal directly to bullion banks.

  • Equinox Gold Corp. and B2Gold both sell partly refined gold and are building production at recently commissioned Canadian mines, making mine ramp-ups as important to watch as gold prices. Equinox’s Greenstone and Valentine production offers a comparison for Goose; after refining, Equinox’s gold goes mainly to international bullion banks, traders and refiners.

  • Agnico Eagle Mines and B2Gold both operate Canadian gold mines, where the gap between gold selling prices and production costs determines margins. Agnico Eagle’s gold sales at spot prices and its per-ounce production costs provide context for Goose’s economics, rather than a directly comparable mine-cost measure.

  • Alamos Gold and B2Gold both produce gold in Canada and invest in more production capacity, exposing them to gold prices and mine-development costs. Alamos’s Lynn Lake construction progress is a useful comparison for B2Gold’s expansion plans at Goose, but Lynn Lake is not yet an operating production source.

  • Eldorado Gold and B2Gold both depend on gold prices and on turning mine-development spending into additional production. Eldorado sells Lamaque’s partly refined gold to Ontario refineries, while progress at its Skouries copper-gold project offers a separate example of the execution risks to watch as B2Gold expands Goose.

  • Newmont Corporation and B2Gold both depend on how much gold they produce, the price they sell it for and the cost of mining it. Watch Newmont’s reporting on energy, labor and equipment costs for context on the inputs that can squeeze gold-mining margins, rather than assuming its mine costs match B2Gold’s.

  • Gold Fields and B2Gold both generate cash by producing and selling gold, so realized selling prices are a major earnings driver for both. Gold Fields received an average US$3,496 per ounce in 2025, up 45% from 2024; B2Gold’s realized price also rose, though its prepaid gold deliveries affect that figure.

  • Wheaton Precious Metals buys a contracted share of Goose’s gold under an agreement B2Gold inherited through Sabina, so Goose production feeds directly into Wheaton’s deliveries. Wheaton provided upfront funding and pays below-market prices for each ounce before reselling the metal; its Goose deliveries are a concrete measure to watch as the mine ramps up.

  • Aris Mining Corporation offers a Colombian gold-development comparison for B2Gold’s Gramalote project, alongside their shared exposure to gold prices. Aris earns most of its revenue selling partly refined gold to refiners; watch construction at Marmato and permitting at Soto Norte for context on developing mines in Colombia, not as a forecast for Gramalote.
