Shore Bancshares Inc serves individuals, businesses and other organizations in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia through Shore United Bank. The bank uses customer deposits as its main source of funding for loans and investments. Borrowers pay interest, and the bank keeps the difference between interest earned and what it pays depositors and lenders. This is its main income source; commercial real estate accounts for most of its loan portfolio.
Customers also pay for account services and for managing and administering their assets. Wye Financial Partners offers investment, insurance and financial planning services through LPL Financial, while Wye Trust provides wealth management and trust services.
The business depends on retaining deposits, borrowers repaying their loans and the relative movement of lending and funding rates. Its geographic concentration ties lending performance to local economies and property markets. Banking rules constrain lending, investments and capital use. The bank also serves state-licensed cannabis businesses, although their activities remain illegal under federal law; changes in federal enforcement could force it to stop serving those customers.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Burke & Herbert Financial Services Corp. competes with Shore Bancshares for business and household customers in Virginia and Maryland: both use customer deposits to fund loans and offer cash-management and wealth services.
United Bankshares Inc, through United Bank, competes with Shore Bancshares for Virginia and Maryland businesses and households seeking deposit accounts, real estate loans and wealth services.
WSFS Financial Corp competes with Shore Bancshares for Delaware businesses and consumers who deposit money, borrow or use wealth-management services. Watch WSFS's commercial and consumer deposits, which help fund its lending and show where the two banks compete for funding.
First United Corp and Shore Bancshares both serve Maryland businesses and individuals with deposits, loans and trust services, so the state's loan demand and deposit competition matter to both despite different local footprints. First United's business lending and rates paid to depositors offer a comparison for Shore's Maryland banking business.
WesBanco Inc competes with Shore Bancshares for Maryland households and businesses, offering banking, mortgages, trust and investment services. Its mortgage and trust businesses are worth watching for competition over the same customer relationships.
OceanFirst Financial Corp and Shore Bancshares both lend heavily against commercial and residential property, leaving both exposed to property borrowers' ability to repay and the cost of funding loans. OceanFirst's real estate loan performance and adjustable-rate loan repricing offer a comparison for Shore's property lending.
Univest Financial Corporation competes with Shore Bancshares for Maryland business banking customers, with both offering deposits, loans and investment services.
Financial Institutions Inc's Five Star Bank and Shore Bancshares both use deposits to fund commercial loans in the Mid-Atlantic, so business borrowing demand and deposit costs matter to both. Five Star's commercial lending offers a comparison, but its core deposit base is in New York rather than Shore's markets.
S&T Bancorp Inc offers a regional comparison for Shore Bancshares: both use customer deposits to fund business and consumer loans and also provide wealth services. Watch S&T's lending margins and credit performance, particularly in loans to small and medium-sized businesses, which it focuses on serving.
First Mid Bancshares, Inc. and Shore Bancshares both rely heavily on lending and have substantial commercial real estate exposure, making property borrowers' ability to repay important to both. Watch First Mid's commercial real estate credit performance: it held $2.6 billion of those loans at December 31, 2025, and lending generated about 74% of its revenue for that year.
Shore Bancshares Inc earningsThis company
Shore Bancshares earns most of its banking income from loan interest after paying depositors, and this report will show whether a wider margin is holding up without credit losses eating into it.
Read net interest margin alongside the provision for credit losses. The margin measures the yield on interest-earning assets less the cost of interest-bearing funding. A stable or wider margin with a contained provision would show that loan pricing and deposit costs still support earnings; a narrowing margin or larger provision would point to funding pressure or weaker borrower repayment eroding that income.
Burke & Herbert Financial Services Corp. earningsBHRB
Burke & Herbert Financial Services Corp.'s report will show whether businesses and households in Virginia and Maryland, which it and Shore Bancshares both serve, are still depositing, borrowing and using cash-management services.
Look for strength in both Burke & Herbert's deposits and lending. If both hold up, customer relationships and borrowing demand in the shared markets remain supportive of Shore Bancshares' deposit gathering and loan growth; if both weaken, customer demand or competition for deposits may be worsening.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Shore United Bank’s earnings depend heavily on the gap between interest it earns on loans and investments and what it pays depositors and other lenders, so Fed rate decisions can change that income as both sides reprice and borrowing demand shifts.

If it comes in above expectations
If rates rise more than expected, loan yields and income on new borrowing may increase, but if deposit costs or other funding costs rise faster, the Bank’s net interest income can be squeezed; higher borrowing costs may also curb loan demand and borrowers’ ability to repay.
If it comes in below expectations
If rates fall more than expected, funding costs may ease, but if loan yields and returns on other assets reset downward faster, the Bank’s net interest income can be squeezed; cheaper borrowing may support loan demand and borrowers’ ability to repay.
First Mid Bancshares, Inc. earningsFMBH
First Mid Bancshares, Inc.'s report will show how its commercial real-estate borrowers are repaying, a read-through on the property-credit risk facing Shore Bancshares' own large commercial real-estate portfolio.
Watch First Mid's commercial real-estate loan performance alongside any rise in delinquencies or credit losses. Stable loans and contained losses would suggest its property borrowers are still repaying and offer a reassuring comparison for Shore Bancshares; worsening delinquencies or losses would point to deeper property-credit stress that could also threaten Shore's loans.
