Rackspace Technology helps customers move applications and data to the cloud, then operates, secures and maintains those environments. Public Cloud supplies most of its revenue: customers pay Rackspace for services on AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, and often buy the underlying cloud infrastructure through it as well. Those providers supply the infrastructure; customers can also buy it directly and pay Rackspace for management and support. Design and migration projects can lead to longer-term managed-service contracts.
Its other substantial business, Private Cloud, provides computing, networking and storage infrastructure with ongoing management in Rackspace-operated data centers or customer and third-party facilities. Unlike Public Cloud, this business requires substantial investment in equipment and data-center capacity.
Revenue is spread across customers rather than concentrated in one large account. Continued business depends on customers retaining and expanding their services, and on Rackspace maintaining cloud-provider relationships, partner status and technical certifications. Most Public Cloud services are usage-based and can be canceled without penalty. Data-protection laws govern how Rackspace handles and transfers customer information, while its government-solutions business depends heavily on FISMA and FedRAMP certifications.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Kyndryl competes with Rackspace Technology for enterprise customers paying to design, modernize and run critical systems across private, public and hybrid clouds. Its cloud-management engagements are the clearest area of overlap with Rackspace's services.
DXC Technology competes with Rackspace Technology for businesses paying to outsource IT infrastructure, modernize technology and obtain consulting. DXC's Global Infrastructure Services and Consulting & Engineering Services businesses are the relevant parts to watch, rather than its insurance software business.
Accenture competes with Rackspace Technology for enterprise contracts to advise on technology, move systems to the cloud and manage them afterward. Watch its Consulting and Managed Services work: Rackspace's own advisory and design projects can lead to long-term management contracts.
Cognizant competes with Rackspace Technology for enterprise spending on IT infrastructure, security, application modernization and technology advice. Its application-maintenance, infrastructure and security services show the overlap most directly, rather than its broader business-process work.
Rackspace Technology relies on Amazon's AWS to supply the computing infrastructure beneath services it sells to help customers move, secure and manage applications in the cloud. AWS customer consumption is the relevant signal, though Rackspace's Public Cloud revenue rose in 2025 as higher services revenue offset part of a decline in infrastructure volumes.
Microsoft Azure supplies infrastructure that Rackspace Technology uses to sell cloud migration and ongoing management services, tying both to enterprise cloud adoption and usage. Azure consumption is the relevant part of Microsoft's business to watch, while Rackspace also earns from managing customers' applications, security and data.
Broadcom's licensing and platform decisions matter to Rackspace Technology's costs and services because Rackspace uses its VMware software to run customers' private clouds. Watch VMware licensing news; lower license expense helped reduce Rackspace's Private Cloud expenses in 2024, though the filing does not attribute that reduction specifically to VMware.
Insight Enterprises competes with Rackspace Technology for enterprise customers paying to design, deliver and manage environments spanning cloud platforms and data centers. Its hybrid-cloud management and support services are the closest comparison, rather than its hardware and software sales alone.
Alphabet's Google Cloud supplies infrastructure beneath Rackspace Technology's paid cloud-management services, linking both businesses to enterprise cloud usage. Google Cloud is the segment to watch for this connection, not Google's advertising business; Rackspace earns by helping customers migrate, secure and optimize their cloud environments.
DigitalOcean competes with Rackspace Technology in paid cloud hosting, managed databases and services that run customers' containerized applications through Kubernetes, but focuses more on growing technology companies. Its hosting, database and Kubernetes business is the relevant overlap, not its entire cloud and AI portfolio.
Equinix competes with Rackspace Technology for customers paying to place their IT equipment in outsourced data centers and connect it to other networks—colocation. Equinix's monthly recurring revenue from data-center space and power is the concrete revenue line to watch for this rivalry.
Intelligent Protection Management competes with Rackspace Technology for customers paying for managed IT security, private-cloud hosting and related professional services. Its work for US enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses is the relevant overlap, rather than its ManyCam video software.
Equinix, Inc. earningsEQIX
Equinix's recurring revenue from data-center space and power will show demand for outsourced facilities and how strongly it competes with Rackspace for Private Cloud customers.
Watch Equinix's recurring revenue from data-center space and power. Growth would show that businesses are still paying for outsourced facilities and network connections, supporting demand for this infrastructure while also making Equinix a stronger alternative. A decline would offer less evidence of either demand or competitive pressure. The figure describes the market, not where Rackspace's own customers went.

Microsoft's report will show how Azure is growing, offering a demand signal for cloud environments Rackspace manages without showing how much service revenue Rackspace wins.
Focus on Microsoft's reported Azure growth, not its advertising or other businesses. Faster growth would indicate stronger customer spending on an underlying cloud platform and could support demand for Rackspace's migration, security and management services. Slower growth would mean a weaker demand tailwind. Azure growth does not establish that Rackspace's revenue grew; it speaks to the underlying cloud demand.
Kyndryl Holdings, Inc. earningsKD
Kyndryl's cloud-management work competes with Rackspace for enterprise customers, so its report will show both shared demand and how a rival is faring.
Focus on Kyndryl's cloud-management work, not its entire business. Strength there would show that enterprises are still buying services to run critical systems and cloud environments, but it would also mean a rival is winning work in Rackspace's market. Weakness could reflect softer demand or Kyndryl-specific execution; it does not automatically mean Rackspace benefits. Separate shared customer demand from the competitor's own performance.

Rackspace's report will show whether Public Cloud can offset falling Private Cloud revenue and whether the company's overall gross margin holds up.
Read Public Cloud and Private Cloud revenue alongside gross margin. Public Cloud growth, a smaller Private Cloud decline and a steady margin would show newer business is replacing revenue lost as customers leave legacy platforms. Further Private Cloud declines alongside a falling margin would show that contraction is still weighing on profitability. The test is whether growth replaces the lost revenue while preserving the gross profit left from each dollar of sales.
Broadcom Inc. earningsAVGO
Broadcom's report and VMware commentary can signal the cost environment for software used in Rackspace's Private Cloud, but cannot reveal Rackspace's own licensing bill.
Watch Broadcom's comments on VMware licensing and platform business as a cost signal, not as direct evidence of Rackspace's bill. Higher licensing costs could squeeze Rackspace's Private Cloud profit; lower costs could ease pressure. Rackspace has reported that lower license expense helped reduce Private Cloud costs, but did not specifically attribute that reduction to VMware. Its own segment results would be needed to confirm the effect.
