Company

Company overview

GSK’s largest business is specialty medicines for conditions such as HIV, cancer and immune-related disease. HIV medicines account for most of this business’s sales and are supplied through majority-owned ViiV Healthcare. Its products include Dovato, a daily HIV-treatment tablet, and Cabenuva, a long-acting injectable treatment.

General medicines and vaccines also contribute substantial revenue. The general medicines business supplies treatments commonly prescribed in primary care, including Trelegy, an inhaler for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The vaccine business prevents infectious diseases; Shingrix, its shingles vaccine, is its largest vaccine product.

Customers pay GSK for product deliveries. The US is its largest market, where a few large wholesalers handle most sales. Commercial and government-mandated purchasing arrangements include discounts and rebates, so what GSK earns depends on both demand and the prices retained after those deductions.

The business depends on maintaining medicine and vaccine supplies and patent protection against generic competition. Regulatory decisions also limit where and how products can be used: for example, an FDA labeling change restricts the ovarian-cancer medicine Zejula to certain patient groups.

The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.

  • Gilead Sciences competes directly with GSK for patients needing HIV treatment or prevention, a business that generated £7.7 billion for GSK in 2025. Watch Gilead's HIV treatment and prevention business against GSK's growing sales of long-acting injections Cabenuva and Apretude.

  • AstraZeneca competes for the same asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients as GSK, and its ovarian cancer medicine Lynparza rivals GSK's Zejula. Lynparza sales are the clearest product-level comparison for that cancer business.

  • Sanofi competes with GSK for influenza vaccine sales and, through Dupixent, for severe-asthma and COPD patients. Its flu vaccine business and Dupixent news are the parts to watch for competition facing GSK.

  • Pfizer competes with GSK for RSV vaccinations through Abrysvo versus Arexvy, and its meningitis vaccines rival GSK's meningitis portfolio. Watch Abrysvo and Pfizer's meningitis vaccine sales rather than its wider drug business for these competitive signals.

  • Merck competes with GSK in preventive vaccines, while its Keytruda competes with GSK's Jemperli for endometrial cancer patients. Keytruda news in endometrial cancer is the relevant comparison for Jemperli, rather than Merck's overall cancer sales.

  • Regeneron's Dupixent, partnered with Sanofi, competes with GSK's Nucala for severe-asthma and COPD patients. Dupixent news in those two patient groups is the relevant signal for Nucala.

  • Amgen's Tezspire competes with GSK's Nucala for severe-asthma patients. Tezspire's performance in severe asthma is the part of Amgen's medicine sales that matters for this tie.

  • Novartis and GSK both sell specialty medicines for immune-system diseases and cancer, but Novartis's Kesimpta also brings GSK a share of sales as royalty income. Watch Kesimpta sales for that direct contribution to GSK, distinct from the companies' overlapping medicine businesses.

  • Innoviva receives a share of GSK's Breo/Relvar and Anoro inhaler sales as royalties, so that business depends directly on GSK's sales to asthma and COPD patients. Its receipts from those two products give a focused view of that part of GSK's respiratory business, not Trelegy.

  • Royalty Pharma receives a share of sales of GSK's Trelegy asthma and COPD medicine, so its Trelegy receipts move with sales of GSK's largest respiratory product. Those payments follow the medicine's sales, not GSK's profits.

  • GSK licenses the hepatitis B medicine bepirovirsen from Ionis Pharmaceuticals and controls and pays for its development, regulatory work and commercialization. Watch progress in this program: success triggers milestone payments to Ionis and, if sold, royalties of 10–12% of net sales.

  • GSK's fast-growing cancer medicine Jemperli uses antibody intellectual property licensed from AnaptysBio, which retains contractual rights to sales royalties. AnaptysBio sold those receipts to Sagard until an agreed cap is reached, so Jemperli sales do not currently translate directly into royalty cash for AnaptysBio.
