Company overview

Wipro helps enterprises build, modernize and run their software, technology infrastructure and business processes. Clients pay for development projects and ongoing operations, with fees tied to work performed, agreed project prices, usage or outcomes. IT services generate almost all its revenue; reselling third-party hardware and software mainly complements that work.

Most of Wipro’s software-development facilities are in India, serving clients globally. Its Wipro Intelligence suite brings AI platforms and consulting-led solutions into client work, including tools for running IT and business operations and building AI applications. A significant part of its services relies on technology and software supplied by alliance partners.

The United States supplies most of Wipro’s revenue, and banking, financial services and insurance form its largest client sector. Continued business depends on clients commissioning and renewing work: most contracts do not guarantee future projects or volumes. Profitability depends on staffing engagements and keeping delivery costs within the prices agreed with clients; some fees also depend on meeting milestones or service levels. Work-visa rules constrain international staffing, while data-localization and cross-border transfer rules restrict where it can process client information.

Wipro’s results hinge on global enterprise IT budgets and outsourcing demand, with Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies and Capgemini important rivals missing from this list.

  • Infosys and Wipro vie for overseas enterprises’ spending on consulting, application modernization, infrastructure and business-process services. Infosys’s North American and European revenue is a useful read on the overseas IT budgets both depend on.

  • Cognizant competes with Wipro for enterprise contracts to develop and maintain applications, run infrastructure, advise clients and handle business processes. Its work modernizing clients’ technology and automating their processes offers a read on demand for the same services at Wipro.

  • Accenture competes with Wipro for global clients paying for consulting, technology implementation and ongoing operations, or managed services. Its Consulting and Managed Services results offer two views of the enterprise budgets Wipro also targets.

  • CGI Inc. competes with Wipro for clients paying to connect technology systems, obtain IT advice and outsource IT and business processes. Watch CGI’s managed services, where it takes full or partial responsibility for clients’ IT functions, for a read on demand to hand that work to outside providers.

  • DXC competes with Wipro for global enterprises’ application modernization, consulting and infrastructure-services contracts. DXC’s Consulting & Engineering Services and Global Infrastructure Services results are the relevant lines to watch, rather than its separate insurance software business.

  • EPAM competes with Wipro for enterprise spending on software development and cloud, data and AI transformation projects. Its software engineering and cloud and AI work offers a read on clients’ appetite for these technology upgrades.

  • IBM Consulting competes with Wipro for enterprise transformation and application modernization work. Watch IBM’s consulting business for that overlap, since IBM also sells clients software and infrastructure that make its overall results a broader measure.

  • GLOBANT S.A. competes with Wipro for enterprise software engineering, cloud and AI transformation work. In 2025, most Globant engagements charged clients for time and materials, making those services more relevant to this comparison than its limited software-license revenue.

  • Genpact competes with Wipro for enterprise contracts to improve and run business processes using data, industry expertise and AI. Its revenue from banking, capital-markets and insurance clients offers a concrete view of demand from customer groups Wipro also serves.

  • Endava competes with Wipro for clients paying for technology consulting, software engineering and data and AI transformation. Watch spending by Endava’s largest clients: its top ten accounted for 32.5% of fiscal 2025 revenue, making that group particularly important to its demand picture.

  • Amdocs Limited competes with Wipro for communications providers’ spending to connect, modernize and operate software and technology systems. Its software implementation and managed-operations work for telecom, broadband and mobile providers is the clearest overlap to watch.

  • Alight, Inc., which collects fees to administer employers’ employee benefits, buys services from Wipro under an agreement running through August 2029. Its remaining non-cancellable obligation was $247 million at December 31, 2025, including $123 million expected to be paid in 2026; any unconsumed balance after August 31, 2029 must be paid to Wipro by September 30, 2029.
