Company overview

USANA Health Sciences gets most of its revenue from its core nutritional business, led by USANA Nutritionals supplements. Its main buyers are independent Brand Partners, who buy for personal use or resale, and Preferred Customers, who buy only for personal use. Outside China, partners earn commissions on product sales through their customer networks and sales organizations—not simply for recruiting people. The business depends on repeat purchases and on retaining partners who bring in customers; several partner leaders and their organizations account for a significant amount of sales.

Hiya provides a second revenue path, selling children’s health and wellness products directly to U.S. consumers, mainly through subscriptions. It relies heavily on online marketing to attract customers, while recurring refill orders are more profitable than first orders.

Mainland China is USANA’s largest revenue market. There, BabyCare sells through online and physical outlets, licensed direct sellers and independent distributors under a separate compensation plan. Chinese law prohibits multilevel compensation and limits direct selling to approved locations. The suspension of new direct-selling approvals restricts BabyCare’s expansion, and authorities have not confirmed that its China-specific model complies with applicable law.

USANA’s results hinge on keeping nutritional customers and productive distributor networks, especially in China; privately held Amway also competes for those sellers.

  • Herbalife competes with USANA for nutrition customers and independent distributors who buy products for their own use or resell them. Watch Herbalife’s distributor retention and nutritional supplement sales for signs of pressure on USANA’s customer and seller networks.

  • Nu Skin competes with USANA for customers and distributors selling wellness and personal-care products through person-to-person networks. Its beauty and wellness sales are the relevant comparison, rather than Rhyz’s revenue from outside customers.

  • Nature’s Sunshine competes with USANA for wellness consumers: both manufacture nutritional supplements and sell them through independent sellers who buy for personal use or resale. Watch its ability to retain consultants through training, product offerings and financial incentives—the people who connect its supplements to customers.

  • LifeVantage Corporation competes with USANA for health-conscious consumers, selling dietary supplements and personal-care products positioned around scientific research through independent selling networks. Repeat purchases of its supplements and skin-care products are worth watching as a sign of customer loyalty to that competing offering.

  • Mannatech competes with USANA for customers and independent sellers, with both selling proprietary nutritional supplements through international seller networks. Watch Mannatech’s recruitment and retention of associates: successful rivals leave a smaller pool of sellers available to USANA.

  • Natural Health Trends shares USANA’s exposure to Chinese demand for wellness products sold through member networks, despite limited direct competitive overlap; mainland China supplied 41.3% of USANA’s 2025 net sales. Watch its Hong Kong subsidiary’s revenue, substantially all of which comes from products delivered to members in China.
