Natural Health Trends buys finished products from outside manufacturers and markets them internationally under the NHT Global brand, including nutritional supplements and skin-care products. Independent members recommend products to consumers and order directly from the company’s subsidiaries, almost entirely online. Members generally pay before shipment and buy at wholesale or discounted prices for their own use or, where permitted, resale.
The company pays eligible members commissions based on purchases by members and customers further down their networks. Most order volume is for personal consumption through existing members’ referrals, rather than resale. The business therefore depends on keeping members active and retaining the leaders who sustain their networks, as well as maintaining supplies from outside manufacturers.
Most revenue comes through the Hong Kong operation, with almost all of those products delivered to members in mainland China. The separate mainland subsidiary operates an online retail business: purchases are for personal consumption only, and it pays no commissions. Natural Health Trends does not hold a mainland direct-selling license and believes its current arrangements do not require one. However, regulatory interpretation and enforcement in China remain uncertain and can restrict member activity.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Natural Health Trends depends chiefly on Chinese consumer demand and direct-selling regulation, while its closest competitors are privately held Chinese, Taiwanese and Hong Kong companies absent from this list.
USANA and Natural Health Trends both rely on independent sellers and customers buying nutritional products for personal use, though Natural Health Trends reports limited direct overlap. Watch USANA’s core nutritional customers who bought within the past three months for a read on purchasing activity in these networks.
Nu Skin and Natural Health Trends both depend on customers buying beauty and wellness products through independent sellers, although Natural Health Trends reports limited overlap in markets and products. Nu Skin’s beauty and wellness sales are the relevant comparison, rather than revenue from Rhyz’s outside customers.
Herbalife and Natural Health Trends both depend on independent member networks buying nutrition and wellness products for personal use or resale, but Herbalife’s weight-management focus limits product overlap. Its targeted nutrition sales, including dietary supplements and functional drinks, offer a closer comparison than its meal replacements and weight-loss products.
Herbalife Ltd. earningsHLF
Herbalife’s report will show whether sales of its supplements and functional drinks are holding up, offering a read on demand in a product area that overlaps with Natural Health Trends’ wellness business.
Compare Herbalife’s targeted nutrition sales with its meal-replacement and weight-loss products. If targeted nutrition holds up while those other lines weaken, demand for supplements and functional drinks appears more resilient, which would mean less pressure on the market for Natural Health Trends’ wellness products. If targeted nutrition weakens too, demand in that category is softening—but that alone does not establish how Natural Health Trends’ sales are performing.
USANA Health Sciences Inc earningsUSNA
USANA’s report will show whether its recent core-nutrition buyers are holding steady, offering a read on purchasing activity in the independent-seller networks that Natural Health Trends also relies on.
Compare the number of USANA core-nutrition customers who bought within the past three months with the figure in its previous comparable report. A stable or rising count says those customers are still buying, a more supportive demand signal for Natural Health Trends’ member-led order model; a falling count points to weaker purchasing activity in this kind of network, but does not show directly what Natural Health Trends’ members are doing.

Natural Health Trends’ report will show whether sales through its Hong Kong platform and its member base can hold up the company’s product business.
Read Hong Kong sales alongside active-member numbers: most Hong Kong revenue comes from products delivered to members in China. If both hold up or improve, the member network is still supporting orders; if both fall, the company’s main sales channel is still shrinking. Then check commissions as a share of sales. If that share rises too, commission costs are not easing with revenue, putting more pressure on profitability.
