Tetra Tech helps clients plan water and wastewater systems, clean up contaminated sites and develop infrastructure. Its teams collect and analyze data, assess what a project needs, design solutions and manage implementation; some also operate and maintain completed systems. Clients pay mainly through agreed project prices or hourly labor charges plus expenses. A smaller share of work reimburses allowable costs and adds a fee.
U.S. government agencies and international clients provide most of its revenue, with U.S. commercial customers supplying the remainder. International clients are mainly in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. The U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Agency for International Development are substantial federal customers, although cancellations have reduced USAID work.
The business depends on keeping technical staff assigned to billable projects and controlling delivery costs, especially where the agreed price does not rise with costs. Much of its government work also depends on annual funding approvals. To perform federal contracts, Tetra Tech must meet procurement and contract requirements and retain contractor eligibility; some programs require personnel or facility security clearances.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Tetra Tech’s results hinge on water and environmental investment and government program funding; WSP Global and Arcadis are important competitors to watch beyond this list.
Stantec competes with Tetra Tech for public and private clients’ water, environmental consulting and infrastructure engineering projects, tying both to spending in these areas. Watch Stantec’s water and environmental services work for signs of demand in Tetra Tech’s core markets.
Jacobs Solutions competes with Tetra Tech for clients’ water management, environmental services and infrastructure consulting and engineering work. Its Infrastructure & Advanced Facilities business is the part to watch for water and environmental demand, rather than treating all of Jacobs’ work as comparable.
AECOM and Tetra Tech both earn fees from infrastructure owners and government agencies for planning, engineering and managing programs, exposing them to the same infrastructure spending decisions. Watch whether AECOM’s initial planning assignments expand into broader programs covering multiple projects.
ICF International, Inc. competes with Tetra Tech for government and commercial clients’ environmental, energy and disaster-recovery programs, providing advice and carrying out the work. Its disaster-recovery activity is especially relevant to watch: increased U.S. government disaster-response work drove Tetra Tech’s Government Services Group revenue growth in fiscal 2025.
Parsons competes with Tetra Tech for government and commercial clients’ infrastructure engineering, water and wastewater, environmental cleanup and program-management work. Watch its Critical Infrastructure segment rather than the whole company: that segment supplied 49% of Parsons’ revenue in fiscal 2025.
Onterris, Inc. competes with Tetra Tech to clean up environmental damage and provide related scientific advice to public and private clients. Watch its mostly private-sector customer base: Onterris says regulation and public-health concerns typically make spending on its services non-discretionary.
Exponent Inc competes with Tetra Tech in environmental science, regulatory advice and specialized engineering investigations, charging clients for science and engineering consulting on individual projects. Its Environmental and Health segment is the closer comparison for environmental and regulatory demand, rather than its broader accident and failure-analysis work.
Willdan Group, Inc. and Tetra Tech both sell energy, sustainability and infrastructure engineering services to utilities and public agencies, tying them to those customers’ spending. Willdan offers a more energy-focused view of that demand: Energy supplied approximately 85% of its consolidated contract revenue in fiscal 2025.
Parsons Corporation earningsPSN
Parsons competes with Tetra Tech for government and commercial infrastructure, water and environmental projects, and its report will show whether demand in those shared markets is holding up.
Focus on revenue in Parsons’ Critical Infrastructure segment, not the whole company. Stronger revenue would show shared clients are still advancing these projects, pointing to active demand and competition for Tetra Tech. Weaker revenue would suggest clients are delaying or trimming work, making Tetra Tech’s bids for similar projects harder to win.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Fed’s decision tracks the policy rate that influences borrowing costs; higher rates can raise Tetra Tech’s interest expense on debt that reprices and new borrowing, reducing earnings.
Expected4.0%Last release4.0%
If it comes in above expectations
If the policy rate is higher than expected, Tetra Tech may pay more interest on repricing debt and future borrowing, leaving less earnings after interest.
If it comes in below expectations
If the policy rate is lower than expected, Tetra Tech may pay less interest on repricing debt and future borrowing, leaving more earnings after interest.
ICF International, Inc. earningsICFI
ICF’s disaster-recovery work competes with Tetra Tech’s government services projects, and its report will show whether U.S. government response work is still expanding.
Watch ICF’s disaster-recovery activity alongside Tetra Tech’s Government Services Group revenue and revenue net of subcontractor costs. If ICF’s activity and both Tetra Tech measures grow, government disaster-response work is still supporting project demand. If ICF’s activity weakens, or Tetra Tech’s revenue does not follow, that source of support may be limited for Tetra Tech.
Willdan Group, Inc. earningsWLDN
Willdan’s energy business competes with Tetra Tech for utility and public-agency energy and infrastructure projects, and its report will show whether those shared customers are sustaining their spending.
Focus on Willdan’s Energy contract revenue and compare its direction with Tetra Tech’s Commercial/International Services Group revenue. If both strengthen, utilities and public agencies are still advancing energy and related infrastructure work. If Willdan weakens, or Tetra Tech’s related revenue does not follow, that customer spending is providing less support to Tetra Tech.
Tetra Tech Inc earningsThis company
Tetra Tech earns fees for water, environmental and infrastructure projects, and this report will show whether more work is turning into higher operating profit.
Read revenue net of subcontractor costs alongside operating margin. If both rise, project work is growing and cost control is keeping pace. If revenue rises but margin weakens, staffing costs, project execution or overruns on fixed-price contracts are eating into the growth. The conclusion is whether Tetra Tech can reliably turn project demand into profit.
