Company

Company overview

Titan Mining Corporation’s main operation is Empire State Mines (ESM) in St. Lawrence County, New York. It extracts ore underground, then crushes, mills and processes it into zinc concentrate. Glencore Ltd. buys all the concentrate from ESM’s producing mine under a long-term purchase agreement, making Titan dependent on a single customer for its main revenue source. Cash generation depends on zinc prices, how much concentrate the mine produces and the cost of mining and processing it.

Titan is also developing the Kilbourne graphite project at ESM. Its demonstration facility has begun producing natural flake graphite concentrate, but Titan has not decided to proceed with commercial production and has no binding graphite sales agreements. Turning this into a paying business depends on consistently meeting customer specifications and securing buyers on terms that sustain operations.

Kilbourne’s planned open pit extends beyond ESM’s permitted mining boundary, so development requires New York State approval of a major permit modification and environmental review. Titan may also need additional long-term financing for studies and potential construction.

Titan Mining Corporation’s current results hinge on zinc prices and its sole concentrate buyer, Glencore Ltd., while Kilbourne’s graphite upside depends on customer qualification and binding sales agreements.

  • Americas Gold and Silver competes with Titan Mining Corporation for smelters and traders buying zinc concentrates, though its concentrates also contain silver. Watch its concentrate sales terms: charges for turning concentrate into metal reduce what Titan keeps from its own sales.

  • Silvercorp Metals sells zinc from its Chinese silver-lead-zinc mines into the same concentrate market as Titan Mining Corporation’s Empire State Mines. Its zinc business offers a comparison for the prices and processing charges that shape Titan’s concentrate revenue, rather than for its silver or gold performance.

  • Hecla Mining and Titan Mining Corporation both sell zinc-bearing concentrates to smelters and metal traders, putting them in competition for those buyers. Watch Hecla’s terms for selling these concentrates, especially what buyers charge to process them: those deductions also reduce Titan’s revenue.

  • Buenaventura competes with Titan Mining Corporation in selling zinc concentrates to smelters and traders, with annual zinc output comparable in scale to Titan’s payable production. Watch the price adjustments on its concentrate sales: prices can change after shipment, just as later pricing adjustments alter Titan’s revenue.

  • Pan American Silver overlaps with Titan Mining Corporation in zinc sales, but silver and gold are its principal products while Titan mainly earns revenue from zinc concentrates. Its zinc sales, rather than its overall precious-metal results, are the relevant comparison for the zinc demand and prices that drive Titan’s earnings.
