Rubrik helps organizations protect their data and recover it after cyberattacks or operational failures. Its main platform, Rubrik Security Cloud (RSC), protects backed-up data against unauthorized changes, monitors for threats and helps identify clean data that customers can restore. It serves large and mid-sized organizations worldwide, as well as smaller customers, with subscriptions supplying most of its revenue.
Most sales pass through distributors, resellers and other channel partners, supported by Rubrik’s sales team. Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions, Exclusive Networks and Ingram Micro together account for most revenue, making these partners central to reaching customers and fulfilling orders. The business depends on customers renewing subscriptions and paying to protect more data, cover additional applications or add security capabilities.
Delivery also depends on outside infrastructure. Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services provide cloud infrastructure, while most enterprise data Rubrik secures relies on Rubrik-branded appliances built on Supermicro servers. Privacy rules govern how Rubrik processes personal data, and lawful cross-border transfer arrangements are needed to move that data between jurisdictions. Its encryption technology is also subject to export controls and trade sanctions, which can restrict where it sells and deploys its software.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Rubrik’s growth hinges on enterprise spending on data protection and cyber resilience, with privately held Veeam and Cohesity also important direct competitors to watch.
Commvault competes with Rubrik for enterprise subscriptions that back up data and restore it after ransomware attacks across hybrid-cloud and SaaS environments. Its Commvault Cloud backup and cyber-recovery offerings are the products to watch for competitive pressure on Rubrik.
Varonis competes with Rubrik for enterprise spending on software that shows where data sits and protects it across cloud, SaaS and on-premises systems. Varonis’s sales to larger organizations are the customer segment to watch, since both companies target those buyers.
AvePoint competes with Rubrik for customers paying to protect SaaS data, back it up and recover it after ransomware attacks. Watch AvePoint’s Resilience suite, which puts backup and ransomware recovery inside a broader platform for governing and securing digital workplaces.
CrowdStrike and Rubrik both depend on enterprise spending against cyberattacks: customers pay for Falcon to detect and respond to attacks, while Rubrik protects data and enables recovery. Falcon subscription demand offers a view of spending on attack detection and response, rather than data recovery itself.
Zscaler and Rubrik share exposure to enterprise spending on secure access and cloud-data protection: Zscaler sells subscriptions that control access to applications and data, while Rubrik protects the data itself and restores it after attacks. Zscaler’s data-security offerings are the part to watch for demand closest to Rubrik’s business.
Palo Alto Networks and Rubrik sell to enterprise security buyers: Palo Alto Networks provides integrated platforms to prevent and respond to threats, while Rubrik provides software to secure data and recover it after cyberattacks.
Rubrik depends on Supermicro to design and supply every Rubrik-branded appliance server, supporting a large majority of the enterprise data Rubrik protects; channel partners can buy those appliances directly from Supermicro. Watch server availability, component costs and the agreement expiring in November 2026, since supply problems can delay appliances or raise costs.
Commault Systems, Inc. earningsCVLT
Commvault's report will show whether enterprises are still buying cloud backup and cyber recovery, and how strongly its offerings compete with Rubrik's.
Look at Commvault's cloud backup and cyber-recovery subscription growth alongside adoption by larger organizations. Strength in both would show that enterprises are still paying for these services, but would also mean a competitor is gaining traction for the same buyers and budgets. Weakness in both would ease the competitive signal but could also point to softer demand for the category. Commvault's report alone cannot show whether Rubrik is gaining market share.
Super Micro Computer, Inc. earningsSMCI
Supermicro designs and supplies the servers in Rubrik-branded appliances, so its report offers clues about the supply and cost pressures behind those products.
Read Supermicro's server shipments alongside its gross margin. Firm shipments and stable margins would suggest smoother server availability and less cost pressure for Rubrik-branded appliances; weaker shipments or margin pressure would raise the risk of delays or higher costs. Supermicro's overall results do not reveal how much it supplies to Rubrik, so the conclusion is whether the supply and cost backdrop may help or hinder Rubrik's appliance business.
Rubrik, Inc. earningsThis company
Rubrik earns nearly all its revenue from subscriptions to protect business data, and this report will show whether customers are still adding protected data and products to sustain growth.
Read Subscription ARR growth alongside the net retention rate: Subscription ARR is the annualized value of active subscriptions, while net retention shows whether the same customers expand or reduce their subscriptions, including cancellations. Then check whether subscription revenue growth relies heavily on revenue recognized when customers use or forfeit Subscription Credits. Firm ARR and retention with growth that does not depend on those credits point to customers expanding and staying; slowing ARR and retention with credit-supported revenue point to weakening underlying demand.
