Company

Company overview

Orange County Bancorp, Inc. serves businesses, individuals and local governments mainly in New York’s Lower Hudson Valley and metropolitan area. Its Orange Bank & Trust Company attracts customer deposits through banking relationships and cash-management services, then uses those funds to make loans and hold interest-earning investments. Banking generates most of its revenue. Most loans are secured by commercial real estate in its local markets, so repayment depends heavily on borrowers’ business and property income. The business also depends on retaining deposits at costs that leave a margin over the interest it earns.

The bank’s trust department and Orange Investment Advisors, Inc. (OIA) provide a smaller revenue stream by managing clients’ investments and trusts. Clients pay fees generally based on the market value of assets managed, linking this income to client assets and market levels.

Bank capital requirements constrain distributions, and legal and regulatory limits restrict how much cash Orange Bank & Trust Company can pass to the parent company as dividends.
