Company

Company overview

Mohawk Industries supplies the materials used to finish floors in homes and commercial buildings. Flooring retailers, home centers and distributors buy its products for resale, while builders, contractors and commercial users also buy from it. Mohawk makes products itself and supplements its range with goods from other manufacturers; it also sells through company-owned stores and service centers.

Ceramic and stone products are its largest revenue category. Together with carpet and resilient flooring, such as vinyl, they account for most sales; laminate and wood flooring provide another substantial source of revenue. The United States and Europe are its main markets. In Europe, it also sells building insulation and roof panels under Unilin Insulation and wood-based panels under Unilin Panels. It earns licensing income from manufacturers that use its flooring intellectual property.

Demand depends heavily on new construction and remodeling, rather than on a single large customer. Profitability also depends on raw-material and energy costs and whether Mohawk can pass increases to buyers; some inputs and purchased finished products come from only one or a few suppliers. Its Russian operations face sanctions, export controls and local restrictions that can constrain sourcing, payments and transfers of cash out of the country.

  • Interface competes with Mohawk for flooring buyers purchasing carpet tile, rugs and luxury vinyl flooring. Watch Interface’s pricing and product design in these overlapping categories for signs of the competition Mohawk faces.

  • Masco’s paint and plumbing-fixture sales share the home renovation and construction cycle that drives Mohawk’s flooring demand. Its decorative architectural products sales, normally strongest in the second and third calendar quarters, offer a read on peak repair and remodeling spending.

  • Builders FirstSource sells building materials and installation services to U.S. residential builders and remodelers, so it shares the project spending that supports Mohawk’s flooring sales. Its sales to those customers offer a view of demand across new homes and home renovations.

  • Boise Cascade’s engineered wood and building-material sales depend on residential construction, which also supports Mohawk’s flooring demand. Watch its building-material distribution revenue as another view of that construction cycle, rather than a direct measure of flooring sales.

  • D.R. Horton’s home sales are a broad gauge of the U.S. new-construction demand supporting Mohawk’s flooring volumes: it was the country’s largest homebuilder by homes closed in fiscal 2025. Watch its completed-home sales for the strength of that demand, not as evidence of a direct supply relationship.

  • Lennar builds and sells homes across multiple U.S. regions, giving another view of the new-construction activity supporting Mohawk’s U.S. flooring sales. Its homebuilding revenue is the relevant line to watch, rather than its mortgage, closing-service or rental businesses.

  • PulteGroup builds and sells U.S. homes across 26 states, reflecting the residential construction demand behind part of Mohawk’s flooring sales. Its homebuilding revenue offers a geographically broad view of that demand, though not of Mohawk’s renovation business.
