Most of Masco’s revenue comes from plumbing products, including DELTA and HANSGROHE faucets and shower fixtures. Retailers, wholesalers and distributors buy these products and sell them to plumbers, contractors, homebuilders and consumers. Paints and other coatings, including BEHR and KILZ, provide another substantial revenue stream, reaching do-it-yourself and professional customers mainly through home improvement retailers.
Demand depends primarily on homeowners repairing and remodeling existing homes, with new home construction playing a smaller role. Masco relies heavily on The Home Depot, its largest customer overall and the leading customer for its paint business. The Home Depot has exclusive rights to sell BEHR through North America’s retail channel, restricting Masco’s ability to sell that brand to other retailers.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Masco’s results hinge on residential repair and remodeling demand, but plumbing rivals worth watching also include Kohler and Lixil’s American Standard and Grohe, which are absent from this list.
Fortune Brands Innovations, Inc. competes directly with Masco for kitchen and bathroom spending: its Moen, Rohl and Riobel brands sell faucets and related products through retail and wholesale channels that also carry Masco’s Delta and Hansgrohe. Its Water business results offer a close comparison for demand for Masco’s faucets and kitchen and bath products.
Masco depends heavily on Home Depot, which bought approximately 38% of its sales in 2025 and exclusively sells BEHR through North America’s retail channel. Home Depot sells home-improvement goods to consumers and professionals, so changes in its BEHR purchases directly matter to Masco’s paint business.
Sherwin-Williams competes with Masco’s BEHR and KILZ for professional and do-it-yourself buyers of paints, stains, primers and painting accessories. Its sales to those buyers offer a comparison for Masco’s architectural coatings, which accounted for approximately 31% of Masco’s consolidated net sales in 2025.
RPM International, Inc.’s Rust-Oleum and Zinsser compete with Masco’s coatings for consumer painting, priming and home-maintenance projects. RPM’s Consumer business is the relevant comparison for these purchases, rather than its broader sales of construction and industrial maintenance products.
Lowe’s is one of Masco’s three significant customers, buying its products for resale into the same homeowner and professional remodeling market. Watch Lowe’s sales to homeowners and small- to medium-sized professionals, as well as changes in its purchasing volumes or supplier terms that can reach Masco directly.
Zurn Elkay Water Solutions Corporation competes with Masco in sinks, fixtures and water-related products, but is a less direct comparison than Fortune Brands because it mainly serves institutional and commercial buildings. Its sales for those building projects should not be read as a direct measure of demand for Masco’s residential repair and remodeling products.
Mohawk Industries’ flooring demand offers an adjacent indicator for Masco’s renovation-focused paints and plumbing fixtures, since both sell products used in residential remodeling and new construction. Watch Mohawk’s residential remodeling demand rather than treating its commercial flooring sales as the same market.
Stanley Black & Decker supplies tools for the homeowner and contractor renovation projects that also drive purchases of Masco’s paints and plumbing products, tying both businesses to repair and remodeling activity.
The Sherwin-Williams Company earningsSHW
Sherwin-Williams' report will show whether demand from professional and do-it-yourself paint buyers is also supporting Masco's architectural coatings business.
Compare Sherwin-Williams' paint sales and any volume detail it reports with sales and volume trends in Masco's architectural coatings business. If both hold up or improve, paint demand may be firming and BEHR and KILZ face less market pressure; if Sherwin-Williams' volumes weaken, Masco's coatings may still be facing soft demand. The comparison is between overlapping buyers and products, not identical businesses.

Masco's report will show whether home-renovation demand and product pricing can support sales and margins in its plumbing and architectural coatings businesses.
Read sales and volume trends alongside operating margins for Plumbing Products and Decorative Architectural Products. Stable volumes and margins would suggest demand and pricing are absorbing some cost pressure; further volume declines and weaker margins would show that soft renovation demand and costs are still squeezing Masco. The two segments together reveal whether that pressure is easing or continuing to erode the business.
Fortune Brands Innovations, Inc. earningsFBIN
Fortune Brands Innovations' report will show whether demand for kitchen and bath products sold through retail and wholesale channels shared with Masco is strengthening or weakening.
Compare sales in Fortune Brands' Water business with Masco's Plumbing Products sales. Strength in Fortune Brands, especially in overlapping products such as faucets, would suggest demand from shared kitchen and bath buyers is holding up; weakness would point to continued pressure in that market. Masco's plumbing segment covers more products and markets, so the conclusion is about the direction of demand in their overlapping products, not a one-for-one comparison.
Home Depot, Inc. earningsHD
Home Depot's report will show whether Masco's largest customer is still selling and buying enough home-improvement products, especially BEHR paint, which it sells exclusively.
Read Home Depot's home-improvement and paint demand alongside sales in Masco's architectural coatings business. If Home Depot demand holds up and Masco's coatings sales do too, the important channel remains supportive. If Home Depot demand weakens, Masco's reliance on this customer—which accounts for a large share of its sales—matters more. Home Depot's retail sales are not the same as its orders from Masco, so a mismatch does not by itself explain a change in Masco's shipments.
