Company

Company overview

Water products account for most of Fortune Brands Innovations’ sales, led by faucets, sinks and related fittings under brands including Moen. The company also sells exterior doors and decking through brands such as Therma-Tru and Fiberon, and security products including Master Lock and Yale locks and SentrySafe safes.

Its largest sales channel is wholesalers serving builders, tradespeople and home remodelers. Retailers also buy its products to sell to homeowners and professionals. The Home Depot and Lowe’s are major customers across all three businesses, so their purchasing decisions matter to the company’s access to buyers.

Most sales come from the United States. Demand depends mainly on repair and remodeling of existing homes, with new-home construction also contributing. The business therefore relies on homeowners undertaking projects and on distributors and retailers continuing to stock its products.

Fortune Brands’ results depend chiefly on U.S. home repair and remodeling spending; privately held Kohler is also an important rival to watch in Water, its largest business.

  • Masco competes for faucet and bathroom-fixture purchases with Fortune Brands: its Delta and Hansgrohe brands face Moen, ROHL and Riobel directly. Watch Masco’s Plumbing Products results for evidence of competition on price, product features and brand appeal.

  • JELD-WEN competes with Fortune Brands for exterior-door purchases in residential construction and remodeling, facing its Therma-Tru entry doors. JELD-WEN’s North American residential-door business is the part to watch, rather than its windows or European operations.

  • Trex competes directly with Fortune Brands’ Fiberon by selling composite decking and railing to distributors and home centers for resale mainly into the residential market. Watch Trex’s decking and railing sales for the competitive pressure facing Fiberon.

  • James Hardie competes with Fortune Brands’ Fiberon through its acquired AZEK business, which makes outdoor-living products including wood-alternative decking and railing. News about that business is more relevant to Fiberon than James Hardie’s siding and trim results.

  • Allegion competes with Fortune Brands for North American residential purchases of locks and products that control entry through doors. Watch its residential locks and access-control offerings, rather than treating its broader security and services business as a direct match.

  • Lowe’s is a direct source of demand for Fortune Brands, buying products from all three segments and accounting for 11% of its net sales in 2025. Lowe’s sales to homeowners and repair-and-remodel professionals help gauge the U.S. remodeling spending that supports Fortune Brands’ faucets, doors and locks.

  • Home Depot’s purchases directly support Fortune Brands’ sales: it buys from all three segments and accounted for 11% of net sales in 2025. Watch its sales of home-improvement products to homeowners and professionals for a read on the U.S. repair and remodeling demand behind Fortune Brands’ products.

  • Owens Corning competes with Fortune Brands’ Therma-Tru exterior doors through its Masonite door business. Its Doors results are the relevant comparison—not its larger roofing and insulation businesses.

  • MasterBrand’s cabinets serve the same U.S. kitchen and bathroom remodeling projects that generate purchases of Fortune Brands’ faucets, sinks and decorative hardware. Its cabinet sales through dealers, retailers and builders offer a view of that shared project demand, rather than direct product competition.

  • UFP Industries competes with Fortune Brands’ Fiberon through Deckorators’ wood-alternative decking, sold through building-product distributors and retailers. Watch Deckorators within UFP’s Retail Solutions business, rather than its packaging or construction operations.

  • Zurn Elkay competes with parts of Fortune Brands’ Water business through sinks and plumbing fixtures, but sells mainly for institutional and commercial buildings. Its sink and fixture business is the useful comparison; its customer mix makes it a less direct guide to residential remodeling demand.
