Company

Company overview

Invivyd serves people with weakened immune systems who are unlikely to respond adequately to COVID-19 vaccination. Its only commercial product, PEMGARDA (pemivibart), is an antibody authorized in the United States to prevent COVID-19 before exposure in eligible adults and adolescents—not to treat an existing infection. VYD2311, its next COVID-19 antibody candidate, remains in development and is not authorized for sale.

Invivyd receives payment mainly from specialty distributors that supply PEMGARDA to healthcare providers, infusion centers and clinics. A smaller group of providers buys directly from the company. These care sites bill health insurers for the drug, so demand depends on coverage and adequate reimbursement. Most sales flow through three specialty distributors. Invivyd has no manufacturing facilities and relies on WuXi Biologics as its sole COVID-19 contract manufacturing partner.

PEMGARDA has FDA emergency-use authorization, not full approval. Continued sales depend on that authorization remaining in force and on the drug retaining activity against circulating variants: use is permitted only while variants with substantially reduced susceptibility remain within the authorization’s prevalence limit. If the relevant emergency declaration ends or the FDA revokes the authorization, Invivyd must stop selling PEMGARDA under it.

Invivyd hinges on PEMGARDA demand and protection against emerging variants, with manufacturing dependent on WuXi Biologics and antibody technology supported by Adimab.

  • AstraZeneca challenges Invivyd on two fronts: it develops competing COVID-19 antibodies and jointly offers Beyfortus with Sanofi for RSV prevention in infants and vulnerable young children. Its COVID-19 antibody programs matter to Invivyd’s core business, while Beyfortus serves a market that Invivyd’s still-developing VBY329 aims to enter.

  • Moderna and Invivyd both face changes in COVID-19 prevention demand and circulating variants, but Moderna sells vaccines while Invivyd’s PEMGARDA serves certain immunocompromised patients unlikely to respond adequately to vaccination. Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine sales, which supplied most of its 2025 revenue, are the relevant demand signal—not a direct measure of PEMGARDA’s market.

  • Novavax offers a protein-based COVID-19 vaccine as an alternative to prevention with Invivyd’s PEMGARDA, but the two are not interchangeable for immunocompromised patients. PEMGARDA specifically serves certain patients unlikely to mount an adequate response to vaccination, so that distinction matters when following Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine news.

  • Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccines compete with Invivyd’s PEMGARDA as another way to prevent COVID-19, rather than as a like-for-like replacement. Pfizer sells vaccines, while PEMGARDA provides antibodies for certain immunocompromised patients unlikely to respond adequately to vaccination.

  • Merck’s Enflonsia already serves newborns and infants in the RSV prevention market that Invivyd’s VBY329 antibody candidate targets. Enflonsia supplies antibodies to prevent serious RSV lower respiratory tract disease in babies entering their first RSV season, making that product—not Merck’s overall medicine sales—the relevant comparison for VBY329.

  • Sanofi already jointly offers Beyfortus with AstraZeneca for RSV prevention in the young patients Invivyd’s VBY329 candidate aims to serve. Beyfortus is authorized for infants and children up to 24 months who remain vulnerable to severe RSV disease through their second RSV season, so its use in that group is the relevant comparison for Invivyd’s pipeline.
