Hut 8 secures power and develops sites for electricity-intensive computing. Its largest revenue source is mining Bitcoin with owned equipment, mainly through its majority-owned subsidiary American Bitcoin. Mining pools distribute Bitcoin rewards according to the computing power contributed. What this activity earns depends on Bitcoin’s price, electricity and equipment costs, and its computing power relative to competing miners.
Hut 8 also provides facilities and computing services to outside customers. Mining customers pay to house and operate their equipment, while data-center customers pay for leased space or colocation. Hut 8 Canada charges for cloud computing, storage and networking based on committed and actual usage; Highrise AI earns contracted fees for AI infrastructure and services. Hut 8 selects and develops sites around their power supply rather than treating electricity as an afterthought.
Its expansion into large AI data centers includes River Bend in Louisiana, where Fluidstack has signed a long-term lease and Google provides a financial backstop for lease payments and related obligations. Initial delivery is planned for 2027, so this is a development project rather than an operating rental business today. Hut 8 expects this expansion to make revenue more dependent on a few customers. Delivering these facilities requires financing, reliable electricity and permits; utilities or authorities can also restrict power supplied to its mining operations.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Hut 8’s results hinge on Bitcoin economics and delivering its AI infrastructure pipeline, notably River Bend’s major lease to privately held Fluidstack.
American Bitcoin’s mining rewards feed directly into Hut 8’s consolidated results: Hut 8 majority-owns it and supplies the facilities and operating services for its miners, with internal fees eliminated on consolidation. Watch its Bitcoin production and miner deployments, rather than treating those service fees as outside-customer revenue.
Cipher Digital offers a comparison for Hut 8’s move from Bitcoin rewards toward long-term data-center rent: both mine Bitcoin and secure power before developing large campuses for demanding computing workloads. Cipher’s progress delivering facilities to large cloud tenants is the comparison to watch for Hut 8’s AI buildout.
TeraWulf is a comparison for Hut 8’s ability to turn power-intensive campuses into long-term rent from large computing customers. Its deliveries at Lake Mariner, some begun in 2025 and others extending into 2026, provide a concrete comparison for Hut 8’s planned River Bend deliveries in 2027.
Core Scientific shares Hut 8’s challenge of turning Bitcoin-mining infrastructure into facilities that house customers’ power-intensive AI equipment. Watch its progress repurposing mining facilities and developing AI colocation capacity—the same bridge between mining operations and customer infrastructure that Hut 8 is building.
Applied Digital competes with Hut 8 for powered sites and customers paying for long-term AI data-center leases and hosting. Its progress securing grid connections and delivering facilities for large cloud and other computing customers offers a comparison for Hut 8’s power-first development model.
IREN competes with Hut 8 in supplying AI computing services from infrastructure they develop and control, rather than only renting data-center space. Watch IREN’s operating AI cloud capacity as a comparison for Hut 8’s Highrise AI business, which earns contracted infrastructure and service fees.
MARA Holdings and Hut 8 both earn mining rewards and hold Bitcoin using large energy-infrastructure portfolios, so Bitcoin economics matter to both; MARA’s former Hut 8 managed-services arrangement has ended. Hut 8’s 2024 revenue included a $13.5 million MARA termination fee, which was absent in 2025.
Riot Platforms and Hut 8 both use controlled power and electrical infrastructure to run industrial-scale miners that earn Bitcoin rewards. Watch Riot’s deployed computing power alongside Bitcoin production: a miner’s own expansion must contend with rising network difficulty, which Hut 8 says reduces mining proceeds.
Cleanspark and Hut 8 share exposure to Bitcoin prices through their holdings, while their mining rewards depend on their computing power relative to the network. Watch Cleanspark’s Bitcoin sales and hedging as well as production: it uses a substantial portion of mined Bitcoin to fund operations and capital spending, so its holdings strategy differs from simply accumulating coins.
Keel Infrastructure Corp. shares Hut 8’s path of earning Bitcoin rewards from powered infrastructure while developing computing facilities for long-term tenants. Its HPC business had no revenue as of December 31, 2025 and expected initial data-center revenue in 2027, making the start of tenant payments a useful comparison for Hut 8’s development pipeline.
Ionic Digital Inc. is now a comparison for Hut 8’s mix of Bitcoin operations and AI-campus rent, rather than an ongoing services customer after their earlier agreements ended. Termination of Ionic’s colocation agreement in Q4 2024 reduced Hut 8’s 2025 ASIC infrastructure revenue by $7.6 million; Ionic’s Ward County lease now offers a comparison for turning powered mining assets into AI rental income.
Bitdeer competes with Hut 8 both for Bitcoin mining rewards and for customers paying for mining hosting and AI infrastructure services. Its self-mining revenue separates the Bitcoin side from those customer-service businesses, making it the line to compare with Hut 8’s mining revenue rather than its contracted AI fees.
HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd. competes with Hut 8 for mining rewards and customers buying AI computing capacity. HIVE receives payments from mining pools for contributed computing power and from AI and other data-center users, so watch those two businesses separately when comparing it with Hut 8’s mining rewards and Highrise AI service fees.
Hut 8’s River Bend delivery depends in part on build partner Vertiv, which sells and services data-center power and cooling infrastructure. Watch project delivery against Hut 8’s initial Q2 2027 target for the 245 MW AI campus it must deliver to Fluidstack.
Jacobs Solutions is a direct execution link for Hut 8’s River Bend lease: it provides engineering and project-delivery services and is a named construction partner. Progress on River Bend’s phased delivery, initially targeted for Q2 2027, matters more to this tie than Jacobs’ wider consulting business.
WhiteFiber, Inc. competes with Hut 8 by combining paid AI cloud computing with owned facilities that house customers’ equipment. Watch its cloud-service revenue separately from hosting and colocation revenue to compare the two earning layers with Hut 8’s Highrise AI and infrastructure businesses.
Hut 8’s Highrise AI uses NVIDIA’s H100 and H200 computing chips to provide AI cloud services that earn contracted infrastructure and service fees. Those GPU products—not NVIDIA’s gaming business—are the relevant supplier link to Highrise AI’s capacity for training and deploying AI models.
Vertiv Holdings Co earningsVRT
Vertiv's report will show demand and delivery trends for data-center power and cooling equipment, a supply-chain signal for Hut 8's River Bend buildout.
Look at demand and delivery in Vertiv's data-center business. Strong demand with deliveries keeping pace would point to a supportive equipment market, but would not confirm that River Bend has its equipment. If deliveries lag, Hut 8's construction could face more supply pressure; that is the conclusion the report can support, not a project-specific schedule update.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Hut 8’s rate-sensitive debt and planned River Bend project borrowing make the Fed’s benchmark borrowing rate matter: higher rates can raise interest paid and the cost of financing construction, while lower rates can ease both.
Expected4.0%Last release4.0%
If it comes in above expectations
Higher borrowing costs could increase interest expense on debt that reprices and make River Bend project financing more expensive, leaving less cash for Hut 8’s infrastructure development.
If it comes in below expectations
Lower borrowing costs could reduce interest on debt that reprices and ease the cost of River Bend project financing, leaving more cash available for Hut 8’s infrastructure development.
Riot Platforms, Inc. earningsRIOT
Riot Platforms' report will show how its deployed mining power translates into Bitcoin production, offering a comparison for Hut 8's mining business.
Compare changes in Riot Platforms' deployed mining power with its Bitcoin production, rather than comparing the companies' size. If production keeps pace with added power, new machines are still yielding mining rewards; if power grows but output lags, rising network difficulty is squeezing miners, including Hut 8's American Bitcoin.
Cipher Digital Inc. earningsCIFR
Cipher Digital's report will show its progress turning powered mining sites into data centers for large cloud customers, a comparison for Hut 8's River Bend plan.
Look at Cipher Digital's progress delivering data-center facilities and the revenue coming from large cloud customers. Deliveries moving ahead with customer revenue following would show that mining infrastructure can become long-term rental income; delays or little revenue would underline Hut 8's risk of spending on River Bend well before customer payments arrive.
Hut 8 Corp. earningsThis company
Hut 8 earns money from both Bitcoin mining and data-center and cloud services, and this report will show whether customer-paid infrastructure revenue is gaining ground.
Read Digital Infrastructure and cloud-service revenue alongside Bitcoin mining revenue and production; then separate Bitcoin fair-value gains or losses, since price changes also flow into net income. Growing customer revenue with steady mining output would show that Hut 8 is broadening its income base. If customer revenue does not build and reported results still swing mainly with mining and Bitcoin revaluations, the shift has yet to take hold.
American Bitcoin Corp. earningsABTC
American Bitcoin's report will show its miner deployments and Bitcoin production, directly illuminating the mining business included in Hut 8's consolidated results.
Read American Bitcoin's miner deployments alongside its Bitcoin production. Rising output as deployments grow would show Hut 8's mining business expanding; if miners increase but production does not keep pace, power, equipment operation, or competition for rewards may be limiting output. Hut 8 consolidates American Bitcoin, so internal service fees are eliminated; focus on mining production, not those fees as outside-customer revenue.
IREN Limited earningsIREN
IREN's report will show whether its AI cloud capacity is turning into paid services, a direct comparison for Hut 8's Highrise AI business.
Read IREN's operating AI cloud capacity alongside revenue from those services. Capacity in use with service revenue growing would show customers are paying for computing, not just that facilities are being built; if capacity expands but revenue lags, the path from investment to customer payments may be longer, a key test for Hut 8's Highrise AI as well.
