American Battery Technology Company processes battery manufacturing scrap and end-of-life batteries at its McCarran, Nevada facility, where all its revenue-generating operations are located. It separates metals from electrode powders, which it sells as a mixture known as black mass. Black mass sales provide most of its revenue; buyers pay under purchase agreements, while byproduct metals also sell in the scrap market. The company can further process black mass to recover lithium and other metals, but it has not yet consistently produced and sold battery-grade materials at full commercial scale.
Most current black mass customers are outside the United States, and a small group of customers supplies most revenue, generally without long-term fixed-volume commitments. A federal directive currently prohibits black mass exports unless an exception or adjustment is granted. The company has requested relief, but the outcome remains uncertain, putting its main sales channel at risk. Recycling also depends on obtaining suitable battery feedstock at viable prices and on the prices buyers pay for recovered materials.
Separately, the company is developing a process to extract lithium from Nevada claystone and make high-purity lithium hydroxide. It has supplied demonstration output to customers for evaluation; its planned commercial refinery near Tonopah is not an established revenue source. Developing its recycling, extraction and refining operations requires environmental approvals, and the company expects to continue using outside financing alongside internally generated cash and government support.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Electra Battery Materials Corporation competes with ABTC in recovering lithium, nickel and cobalt from recycled battery powders, or black mass, using chemical processing for the battery-material supply chain. Watch its move beyond plant-scale trials: in 2023 it produced technical-grade lithium carbonate and shipped a nickel-cobalt product, but it had not generated operating revenue through the reporting period.
Lithium Americas Corp. and ABTC are developing competing Nevada projects to extract lithium from sedimentary deposits and refine it into battery chemicals for customers. Watch Thacker Pass’s planned first phase, designed for 40,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium carbonate a year; it remains under development, while ABTC is demonstrating lithium-hydroxide production from claystone.
ioneer Ltd and ABTC are developing Nevada mining and processing projects to sell U.S.-produced lithium chemicals into the domestic battery supply chain. Watch whether ioneer’s planned lithium-carbonate sales from Rhyolite Ridge clear their conditions, including a final investment decision and the supply start date; they are not yet established operating sales.
SQM already sells lithium chemicals into the battery-material market ABTC aims to serve with recovered lithium and its planned lithium-hydroxide refinery. Its lithium and derivatives revenue is the relevant line to watch, rather than its fertilizer or iodine businesses: it accounted for 50% of SQM’s revenue in 2025.
Elevra Lithium Limited and ABTC both face lithium-price and North American battery-material demand conditions, though Elevra produces lithium-bearing ore concentrate in Québec while ABTC develops lithium refining and recovery. Watch production and potential expansion at Elevra’s North American Lithium operation for a view of concentrate supply, not finished lithium-chemical output.
Lithium Argentina AG sells lithium carbonate into the supply chain ABTC targets with lithium recovery and planned lithium-hydroxide production. Watch its sales pricing: in 2025 substantially all sales went to Ganfeng and Bangchak under purchase agreements, with prices generally set by prevailing market conditions or agreed mechanisms.
American Battery Technology Company earningsThis company
American Battery Technology Company's report will show whether revenue from recycled battery materials is keeping pace with the cost of processing them.
Read revenue alongside cost of goods sold, the direct cost of making products for sale. If revenue grows faster than that cost, more feedstock and a better product mix are improving recycling economics. If the cost still exceeds revenue, sales growth has not yet made production sustainable.
Electra Battery Materials Corporation earningsELBM
Electra Battery Materials' report will show whether it is moving from plant-scale trials toward steady production in the battery-material market it shares with American Battery Technology Company.
Look for sustained recycling throughput and product output, not just trial results. Continued production would show Electra advancing toward an operating competitor for the same battery-material customers as American Battery Technology Company; activity still limited to trials would mean that competitive pressure has not yet reached that stage.
Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile SA earningsSQM
SQM's lithium-and-derivatives revenue will show sales and pricing in the battery-material market that American Battery Technology Company aims to serve with recovered lithium and planned lithium-hydroxide production.
Focus on SQM's lithium-and-derivatives revenue, not its fertilizer or iodine businesses. Stronger revenue may reflect better sales or pricing for lithium chemicals, a more supportive market for the recovered lithium and lithium hydroxide American Battery Technology Company aims to sell. Weaker revenue points to less support, though sales volume also affects the figure.
Industrial Production MoM (Oct)
Industrial production and capacity use track how much factories, mines and utilities are producing and using their equipment; for ABTC, stronger activity could mean more battery material to process and sell, while weaker activity could mean less throughput and sales.
If output is stronger, it points to more industrial activity that could support battery-material feedstock and ABTC’s processing and sales; weaker output points to less support and potentially lower throughput and sales.
