Veritone helps customers analyze data, manage digital content and handle recruitment. Its aiWARE platform brings machine-learning models and applications together to extract information from data. Applications include iDEMS and VDR for managing digital data, alongside Talent Acquisition hiring solutions. Customers pay for software use, support, maintenance and implementation. Most revenue comes from software and related services, with aiWARE delivered mainly as an online service. Commercial customers supply most revenue; government and regulated-industry customers contribute a smaller share.
A smaller business manages and licenses rights holders’ film, television, sports and advertising content to customers who want to use it. aiWARE helps those customers find relevant content. Veritone also earns revenue from representation services, including influencer management. Westwood One and iHeart Media and Entertainment together supply a substantial share of this Managed Services business, and some key customers have no long-term contracts. Content licenses restrict permitted uses and may require additional clearances and consent.
The software business depends on continued access to third-party AI models and infrastructure, including AWS and Microsoft Azure. Hiring-software demand depends on employers’ need to recruit. Government deployments must meet security requirements, while facial-recognition and biometric-data laws limit where and how some products can be used.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Veritone’s results also depend on content-licensing customers Westwood One and iHeart Media and Entertainment; neither is represented by Westwood Holdings.
Axon competes with Veritone for public-safety agencies’ spending on software that manages and analyzes digital evidence. Watch adoption of Axon’s evidence software subscriptions and premium offerings alongside Veritone’s iDEMS growth.
Palantir competes with Veritone for government and commercial customers buying AI-enabled data-management and analysis software. Its government and commercial revenue provide separate readings on the customer groups Veritone serves with iDEMS and VDR.
Getty Images competes with Veritone to license creative and editorial content to media, agency and corporate customers. Watch Getty’s Creative and Editorial revenue for a view of content demand relevant to Veritone’s licensing business, rather than its AI software.
Shutterstock competes with Veritone for advertising, media and creative customers paying to use digital content. Its Content revenue is the line to watch: it comes from licensing images, footage, music and 3D models, rather than its separate Data, Distribution, and Services business.
Open Text Corp competes with Veritone in digital-evidence management, and both sell software that organizes unstructured enterprise data. Watch OpenText’s Content products and their use in enterprise AI workflows for context on the market Veritone addresses with iDEMS and VDR.
Motorola Solutions competes with Veritone for public-safety customers buying digital-evidence management, but sells it within a broader safety-technology portfolio. Its Video and Command Center news are more relevant to Veritone’s iDEMS than its overall sales, which also include mission-critical networks.
Amazon affects Veritone as an AI competitor, a supplier of computing through AWS that hosts aiWARE, and a buyer of hiring services accounting for 4% of Veritone’s 2025 net revenue. Watch Amazon’s hiring-service consumption for revenue exposure and AWS contract terms for Veritone’s cloud costs.
Microsoft competes with Veritone in AI-enabled solutions while supplying the Azure computing infrastructure that hosts aiWARE. Azure contract terms matter directly to Veritone’s cloud costs and gross profit, not just to competition for software customers.
First Advantage and Veritone both depend on employers’ hiring activity: employers pay First Advantage to check candidates’ backgrounds and Veritone for talent-acquisition solutions. Demand for First Advantage’s pre-onboarding screening is the relevant signal for Veritone’s usage-based Talent Acquisition revenue, which declined in 2025.
Amazon.Com Inc earningsAMZN
Amazon’s report can offer clues about its hiring demand, which matters to the Talent Acquisition revenue Veritone earns from Amazon.
Look for clues about Amazon’s hiring and staffing needs, not a disclosure of its purchases from Veritone. Stronger hiring would point to a better demand backdrop for Veritone’s revenue from this customer; weaker hiring would raise the risk that this revenue is cut and must be replaced elsewhere.
Palantir Technologies Inc. earningsPLTR
Palantir’s government and commercial results offer a read on spending for AI data software among the two customer groups Veritone serves.
Separate Palantir’s government and commercial revenue. Stronger government results would support the demand backdrop for Veritone’s iDEMS sales to government customers; stronger commercial results would offer context for software demand among its commercial customers. Weaker results would point to greater caution in those markets, but would not establish how Veritone itself sold.
Axon Enterprise, Inc. earningsAXON
Axon’s report will show agencies’ adoption of evidence-management subscriptions and premium offerings, a competitive read-through for Veritone’s iDEMS business.
Read growth in Axon’s evidence-software subscriptions alongside adoption of its premium offerings. Strength in both would show agencies are spending on this type of software, pointing to an active market for Veritone as well as stronger competition; slowing adoption would suggest weaker agency demand for these tools.
JOLTs Job Openings (Sep)
Job openings track how many jobs employers are seeking to fill; for Veritone, stronger hiring can lift customer use of its consumption-based Talent Acquisition solutions and the revenue they generate.
Expected7.0MLast release7.079M
If it comes in above expectations
More openings than expected would point to stronger hiring demand, which could lead customers to use more of Veritone’s consumption-based Talent Acquisition solutions and increase that revenue.
If it comes in below expectations
If the reading is below the 7.0M estimate, it is below the previous 7.079M. Fewer openings than expected would point to weaker hiring demand, which could lead customers to use less of Veritone’s consumption-based Talent Acquisition solutions and reduce that revenue.
First Advantage Corporation earningsFA
Demand for First Advantage’s pre-hire background checks offers a hiring-market signal for Veritone’s usage-based Talent Acquisition business.
Look at First Advantage’s pre-hire screening activity or related business results. Stronger demand would suggest more active employer hiring and a better demand backdrop for Veritone’s usage-based Talent Acquisition revenue; weaker demand would mean more pressure from a slow hiring market. This is a market signal, not a disclosure of Veritone’s orders.
Open Text Corp earningsOTEX
OpenText’s Content business offers a read on the enterprise data-management market Veritone addresses with iDEMS and VDR.
Look at OpenText’s Content results and whether customers are using those products in AI workflows. Strength in both would show enterprises are still paying for software to organize and use unstructured data, a healthier market for Veritone’s iDEMS and VDR; weakness would suggest tighter spending, but would not determine Veritone’s sales.
SHUTTERSTOCK, INC. earningsSSTK
Shutterstock’s Content revenue shows demand for licensed digital media among overlapping customers, offering context for Veritone’s content-licensing business.
Focus on Shutterstock’s Content revenue from licensing images, footage, music and 3D models, not its Data or Distribution businesses. Stronger revenue would signal firmer customer demand for licensed content, a healthier market for Veritone’s licensing business; weaker revenue would suggest customers are cutting this spending and add pressure to Veritone’s licensing income.

Veritone’s report will show whether its software revenue is becoming steadier income and cash as $45.6 million of convertible notes approach maturity in November 2026.
Read annualized subscription-based software revenue alongside cash used in operating activities, and consider the cash available against the business’s needs and the debt coming due. Stronger subscription revenue with lower cash use would show the software business is better supporting operations; weak subscription revenue with continued heavy cash use would leave Veritone more reliant on refinancing or new funding.
