United Therapeutics’ business centers on medicines for pulmonary arterial hypertension, a disease involving high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. Its inhaled treatments, Tyvaso DPI and Nebulized Tyvaso, together bring in most revenue and also treat pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease. Remodulin and Orenitram provide additional revenue from pulmonary hypertension treatment. The company also sells Unituxin for high-risk neuroblastoma, a cancer.
Most revenue comes from the United States. Accredo and CVS Specialty buy and distribute its core pulmonary hypertension medicines, supplying substantially all U.S. revenue from those products. These distributors also help patients obtain reimbursement and provide support services. Private health plans and government programs, including Medicare and Medicaid, pay for patients’ treatment, so coverage and reimbursement are central to sales. Government pricing programs require rebates or discounts and cap prices for some purchasers.
Supply also depends on outside partners: MannKind is the sole manufacturer of finished Tyvaso DPI and its inhalers, with no planned backup source. Regulatory approvals restrict where products can be marketed; Tyvaso DPI is approved only in the United States.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
United Therapeutics’ results hinge on Tyvaso adoption and competition, but also watch privately held DEKA, absent from this list, as the sole manufacturer of its main subcutaneous Remodulin pumps.
Liquidia Corporation competes for United Therapeutics’ patients by selling inhaled Yutrepia against Tyvaso and promoting generic treprostinil injection against Remodulin, earning a share of U.S. injection profits. Watch Yutrepia sales and the PH-ILD patent case: United Therapeutics says a win could force Liquidia to remove that indication until February 2042.
United Therapeutics depends entirely on MannKind for finished Tyvaso DPI and inhalers, paying it for supply and a 10% royalty on net sales, subject to reductions. MannKind’s Tyvaso DPI royalty revenue tracks sales of United Therapeutics’ inhaled treatment for PAH and PH-ILD, while manufacturing news matters because there is no planned backup supplier.
Merck sells Winrevair for PAH, and prescribing it earlier could delay patients starting United Therapeutics’ prostacyclin medicines and hurt revenue. Watch evidence supporting earlier use, rather than assuming displacement: United Therapeutics says it has not yet seen a material effect on use of its treprostinil treatments.
Johnson & Johnson sells PAH medicines including oral Uptravi, which competes directly with United Therapeutics’ Orenitram. Watch Uptravi’s position as a generic version was expected in 2026; United Therapeutics also says many patients move to Orenitram or its other treprostinil treatments after their disease progresses on Uptravi.
Insmed’s investigational once-daily inhaled TPIP targets the same PAH and PH-ILD patients as United Therapeutics’ Tyvaso products, making it a potential future rival rather than a marketed alternative. Watch its phase 3 trials: the PH-ILD study began in the fourth quarter of 2025, and Insmed planned to start the PAH study in the first half of 2026.
Gossamer Bio, Inc. is developing inhaled seralutinib for the PAH and PH-ILD patients served by United Therapeutics, although its PAH phase 3 study missed its primary endpoint in February 2026. Watch its continued pursuit of PAH approval and the PH-ILD phase 3 trial begun in late 2025, which will help show whether this potential rival can reach those patients.
United Therapeutics’ intravenous Remodulin sales depend on access to pumps such as ICU Medical’s CADD-Solis, which delivers the drug into patients’ veins. Watch CADD-Solis availability and discontinuation news: ICU Medical has already stopped making the older CADD-Legacy, and losing pumps without a viable replacement could materially hurt Remodulin revenue.
Insmed, Inc. earningsINSM
Insmed’s inhaled TPIP targets the same PAH and PH-ILD patients as Tyvaso, and its report may show whether this potential rival is advancing in clinical trials.
Watch for updates on Insmed’s phase 3 PH-ILD trial and PAH trial, bearing in mind that TPIP is still investigational. Progress on schedule would make future competition for Tyvaso patients more credible; delays or setbacks would make it more distant, but neither outcome establishes an effect on current Tyvaso sales.
Merck & Co., Inc. earningsMRK
Merck’s Winrevair treats PAH, and evidence of earlier use in its report could show whether patients may be starting United Therapeutics’ prostacyclin therapies later.
Watch for evidence that Winrevair is being used earlier, alongside United Therapeutics’ treprostinil treatment use. Earlier use could mean patients start therapies such as Tyvaso later; without such evidence, the report would not establish whether Winrevair is displacing demand for United Therapeutics’ treatments.
Liquidia Corporation earningsLQDA
Liquidia Corporation’s Yutrepia competes with United Therapeutics’ Tyvaso for inhaled-therapy patients, and its report will show sales progress and the competitive stakes of the PH-ILD patent case.
Read Liquidia Corporation’s Yutrepia sales alongside developments in the PH-ILD patent case. Growing sales with no restriction on that indication would make its challenge to Tyvaso more substantial; slowing sales or a restriction would weaken that route to competition, but would not alone determine United Therapeutics’ sales.
United Therapeutics Corp earningsThis company
United Therapeutics increasingly depends on Tyvaso, and this report will show whether demand-driven growth can outweigh pressure from other product sales and deductions.
Read Tyvaso sales alongside Remodulin and Orenitram sales, and sales deductions such as rebates and discounts. Tyvaso growth with steadier sales elsewhere and contained deductions would show core demand supporting revenue; slowing Tyvaso, pressure on other products, or rising deductions would show growth translating less reliably into net revenue.
Mannkind Corporation earningsMNKD
MannKind supplies finished Tyvaso DPI and earns royalties on United Therapeutics’ sales, so its report can show both the demand signal and the supply risks behind that dependence.
Read MannKind’s Tyvaso DPI royalty revenue and manufacturing or supply updates alongside United Therapeutics’ Tyvaso DPI sales. Rising royalties with stable supply would show demand and delivery both supporting the business; weaker royalties could reflect slower sales, while supply problems could disrupt finished-product delivery, with no planned backup supplier for United Therapeutics.
ICU Medical Inc earningsICUI
ICU Medical’s CADD-Solis pumps can deliver United Therapeutics’ intravenous Remodulin, and its report will show whether this treatment route has a secure equipment supply.
Watch whether ICU Medical reports continued CADD-Solis availability, discontinuation plans, or viable replacement pumps. Stable supply supports patients’ continued use of intravenous Remodulin through this system; losing the pumps without a workable alternative could disrupt treatment and put related sales at risk.
