Unilever supplies products for everyday needs, from washing hair and caring for skin to cleaning clothes and preparing meals. Retail customers and distributors buy its goods for sale to consumers. Brands include Dove and Vaseline in beauty and care, Comfort in laundry care, and Knorr and Hellmann’s in foods. It also serves culinary professionals through Unilever Food Solutions.
Following the ice cream business demerger, its operations span Beauty & Wellbeing, Personal Care, Home Care and Foods. These businesses contribute broadly similar amounts of revenue, so Unilever is neither mainly a food company nor mainly a beauty company. Its leading brands generate most sales, and no single customer accounts for a large share of revenue.
The business depends on consumers continuing to choose its brands and on keeping products relevant as tastes and shopping habits change. Emerging markets supply most revenue, making local consumer demand particularly important; price controls in those markets can also constrain what Unilever charges.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Unilever depends on global demand for branded household, beauty and food products; L’Oréal, Henkel, Reckitt and Nestlé are important rivals to watch beyond this list.
Procter & Gamble competes with Unilever for consumers worldwide buying laundry and household cleaners, hair care, skin cleansers, deodorants and oral care products.
Colgate-Palmolive competes with Unilever for purchases of toothpaste, soaps, shower gels, deodorants, household cleaners and fabric conditioners. Its oral care sales are the clearest comparison for Unilever’s oral care business: they accounted for 44% of worldwide net sales in 2025.
Church & Dwight competes with Unilever for consumers buying laundry detergents, fabric softeners, oral care and personal care products through retailers. Its household and personal care sales offer a closer comparison for Unilever than its specialty products sold to businesses.
Kenvue competes with Unilever for skin care and cleansing purchases worldwide through Aveeno, Neutrogena and Johnson’s. News about those brands is more relevant to Unilever’s skin care and cleansing businesses than Kenvue’s overall consumer health sales.
Clorox competes with Unilever for household cleaning purchases and, through Hidden Valley, for dressings and condiments. Cleaning sales are its strongest comparison for Unilever’s Home Care business, accounting for 44% of consolidated net sales in both fiscal 2026 and fiscal 2025.
Estée Lauder competes with Unilever’s Prestige Beauty business for consumers buying premium skin care and hair care. Sales of products such as moisturizers, serums, shampoos and conditioners offer a more direct comparison than its makeup or fragrance sales.
Haleon competes with Unilever for consumer spending on oral health products and supplements, overlapping its Oral Care and Wellbeing businesses. Haleon’s oral health and vitamin, mineral and supplement sales are the relevant comparisons, rather than its pain relief or respiratory products.
General Mills competes with Unilever’s Foods business by selling soups, convenient meals and cooking mixes to retail and foodservice buyers. Those product sales are the useful comparison for Unilever’s cooking aids, mini-meals and Food Solutions, rather than General Mills’ pet food business.
Unilever retained a 19.85% stake in The Magnum Ice Cream Company N.V., its former ice-cream business, after the 6 December 2025 demerger. Watch the planned orderly sale of that stake: Unilever intends to use it to pay demerger costs and maintain capital flexibility.
Procter & Gamble Company earningsPG
Procter & Gamble’s report will show how consumers are buying laundry, cleaning and personal care products, markets where it competes with Unilever.
Look across P&G’s laundry, household-cleaning and personal-care sales. Strength across those categories would point to support for demand in Unilever’s Personal Care and Home Care businesses; weakness across several would suggest consumers may also be buying less of Unilever’s competing products.
Colgate-Palmolive Company earningsCL
Colgate-Palmolive’s oral-care sales will show how consumers are buying toothpaste and related products in a market where it competes directly with Unilever.
Focus on Colgate-Palmolive’s oral-care sales. Steady sales would suggest consumers are still buying these everyday products, supporting demand for Unilever’s oral-care offerings too; weaker sales would point to the possibility that consumers are cutting back in the same category.
Clorox Company earningsCLX
Clorox’s cleaning sales will show how demand for household cleaners is holding up in a market shared with Unilever’s Home Care business.
Read Clorox’s cleaning sales: strength would suggest households are still buying cleaning products, supporting the demand backdrop for Unilever Home Care; weakness would point to a softer market for Unilever’s cleaners too. Clorox’s condiments sales offer a narrower comparison for Unilever Foods.
The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. earningsEL
Estée Lauder’s premium skin-care and hair-care sales will show demand for higher-priced beauty products, a relevant market for Unilever’s Beauty & Wellbeing business.
Focus on Estée Lauder’s skin-care and hair-care sales, rather than treating makeup and fragrance as the same market. Strength would show that premium beauty demand remains supportive for the higher-priced part of Unilever’s Beauty & Wellbeing business; weakness would suggest those shoppers are pulling back.
Kenvue Inc. earningsKVUE
Kenvue’s skin-care and cleansing sales will show how consumers are buying in everyday categories where it competes with Unilever.
Look at skin-care and cleansing sales from brands such as Aveeno, Neutrogena and Johnson’s, not Kenvue’s overall consumer-health business. Strength would suggest demand is holding up for Unilever’s competing skin-care and cleansing products; weakness would point to consumers buying less in those categories.
General Mills, Inc. earningsGIS
General Mills’ soups, convenient meals and cooking mixes will show demand from retail and foodservice buyers in product markets that overlap with Unilever Foods.
Focus on General Mills’ soups, convenient meals and cooking mixes, not its pet-food business. Strength would indicate supportive demand for convenient foods, a helpful backdrop for Unilever’s cooking aids, mini-meals and Food Solutions; weakness would point to softer demand for those Unilever businesses too.
