Company

Company overview

Grupo Supervielle S.A. operates exclusively in Argentina, principally through Banco Supervielle. The bank takes deposits and lends to individuals, small and medium-sized businesses, and larger companies. Borrowers pay interest, and the bank earns the difference between returns on loans and investments and its funding costs. It also owns and trades securities, including Argentine government debt. These financial activities provide most of the group’s revenue; personal and business banking is its largest revenue segment, followed by bank treasury.

Payroll and pension customers are central to retail lending. By distributing social-security payments for ANSES, Argentina’s social-security agency, the bank gains access to pensioners who may buy financial services. Sales to senior citizens supply a substantial part of bank revenue. This relationship depends on the ANSES arrangement continuing; a replacement agreement was under negotiation at the annual report date.

Alongside banking, IOL invertironline provides online brokerage and investment services, Supervielle Asset Management manages mutual funds, and Supervielle Seguros sells insurance through channels including the bank. These businesses add service-fee and insurance income.

The main banking business depends on retaining deposits, borrowers repaying, and maintaining a profitable gap between lending returns and funding costs. Its government securities also tie income to Argentina’s repayment capacity. Central Bank rules require capital and reserves and restrict certain rates and fees. As a holding company, Grupo Supervielle depends on cash from subsidiaries, while bank dividend distributions require prior Central Bank authorization.
