Banco Macro S.A. serves individuals and businesses in Argentina, with a focus on low- and middle-income customers and small and medium-sized businesses outside the City of Buenos Aires. It lends to households for personal spending and housing, and to businesses for working capital and investment. Loans supply most of its interest income; government securities are another substantial source. Account, card and transaction fees provide a smaller income stream.
Customer deposits are its main funding source. Plan Sueldo processes wages for private companies and public-sector employers, bringing employee deposits into the bank and creating opportunities to offer loans and other services. Banco Macro also holds government accounts and provides employee payroll accounts as financial agent for Salta, Jujuy, Misiones and Tucumán; these arrangements supply low-cost funding.
Almost all its business is in Argentina, so earnings depend on local borrowers’ ability to repay, depositor confidence and the gap between lending and deposit rates. Mostly short-term deposits limit its ability to offer longer-term loans. Its government securities also tie income to public-sector repayment capacity. Argentine Central Bank rules constrain capital and reserves, lending, fees, dividends and foreign-exchange activity.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Banco Macro’s results hinge on Argentine lending, deposit costs and credit quality; Banco Patagonia and ICBC Argentina are also important local competitors to watch beyond this list.
Grupo Financiero Galicia’s main subsidiary, Banco Galicia, competes with Banco Macro for Argentine individuals, SMEs and agricultural customers, so both face the same shifts in credit demand, deposit costs and borrowers’ ability to repay. Watch Banco Galicia’s lending to SMEs and agriculture for changes in markets that Macro also serves.
Banco BBVA Argentina S.A. competes with Banco Macro for Argentine individuals’ and SMEs’ deposits, loans, cards and payment services, exposing both to local loan demand, funding costs and credit quality. BBVA’s push to increase business lending, particularly to SMEs, is worth watching for competition in Macro’s SME business.
Grupo Supervielle and Banco Macro both lend to Argentine individuals and SMEs and serve payroll and pension customers, linking them to household borrowing and repayment trends as well as payroll deposits. Watch Supervielle’s lending to payroll and pension customers: these groups also matter to Macro’s deposit funding and interest and fee income.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
For Macro Bank, the Fed’s decision tracks the US policy interest rate, which may affect the cost of its US-dollar borrowing and the rates it pays to attract deposits.

If it comes in above expectations
Higher US rates could raise the cost of new or repricing dollar borrowing for Macro Bank and may lead it to pay more to attract deposits.
If it comes in below expectations
Lower US rates could ease the cost of new or repricing dollar borrowing for Macro Bank and may reduce pressure to pay more to attract deposits.
Grupo Supervielle S.A. earningsSUPV
Grupo Supervielle’s report will show how borrowing and deposits among payroll and pension customers are changing in a household market Banco Macro also serves.
Look at whether Grupo Supervielle’s lending to payroll and pension customers is growing, alongside deposits from those customers. More lending with deposits holding steady would show that household borrowing demand and these customer relationships remain intact; weakness in both would point to pressure on a shared customer base that also supports Banco Macro’s interest and fee income.
Grupo Financiero Galicia SA earningsGGAL
Grupo Financiero Galicia’s report will show what Banco Galicia’s SME and agricultural lending says about markets it shares with Banco Macro.
Look at changes in Banco Galicia’s lending to SMEs and agricultural businesses, alongside overdue loans or credit-loss provisions as signs of repayment conditions. Lending growth with credit quality holding steady would indicate support from demand and borrowers in shared markets; weaker lending or rising losses would point to greater pressure on Banco Macro’s competition for these customers and on its related loans.

Banco Macro’s report will show whether lending growth is adding interest income faster than borrower defaults are adding costs.
Read loan growth alongside net interest income and credit-loss provisions, the amounts set aside for loans that may not be repaid. If loans and net interest income rise without provisions rising faster, lending is converting into income; if provisions climb faster, borrower distress may be consuming the gain.
