Chipmakers and electronics manufacturers buy Qnity Electronics’ materials to use in production or incorporate into finished devices; these products account for nearly all its revenue. Its larger business, Semiconductor Technologies, supplies materials for steps such as polishing, patterning and cleaning semiconductor wafers. Interconnect Solutions contributes a substantial share of sales through materials that connect circuits, manage heat and power, and package chips in electronic hardware.
Customers must validate Qnity’s materials for their manufacturing processes or new designs before placing volume orders. That qualification can take several quarters; once selected, a material can generate sales over a multi-year product program. Revenue therefore depends on winning a place in customers’ designs and on how much those customers produce. Samsung Electronics and TSMC are its largest customers, mainly buying from Semiconductor Technologies, but some major customers make no long-term purchase commitments. Demand also follows the semiconductor industry’s cycles.
Export controls and sanctions restrict sales to certain countries, customers and uses, sometimes requiring licenses. Following its separation from DuPont, Qnity also remains subject to covenants intended to preserve the spin-off’s tax-free status that restrict certain acquisitions, share issuances and asset transactions.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
This list leaves out Samsung Electronics, Qnity’s largest customer at 11% of 2025 sales, and materials rivals Merck KGaA and Resonac—all important to watch for Qnity’s results.
Entegris competes directly with Qnity for semiconductor manufacturers’ spending on pads and slurries that polish wafers, known as CMP, and on cleaning chemicals. Watch its Materials Solutions business rather than its filtration business for this overlap with Qnity.
Element Solutions competes with Qnity to supply manufacturers with specialty chemicals for electronics, circuit boards and semiconductor packages. Its Electronics sales are the relevant line to watch, rather than its broader industrial businesses.
MKS competes with Qnity through its MSD business, selling specialty chemicals to electronics and packaging manufacturers. MSD chemistry products are the part to watch for competition with Qnity, rather than MKS’s broader equipment offering.
Qnity depends on TSMC’s purchases of chipmaking materials: TSMC accounted for 8% of Qnity’s 2025 sales, mostly in Semiconductor Technologies. TSMC makes chips from customers’ designs, so its manufacturing ramps matter to Qnity—but customer approval of materials does not immediately become volume orders.
Lam Research and Qnity both sell to Samsung and TSMC: Lam supplies equipment that deposits, etches and cleans chip layers, while Qnity supplies manufacturing materials. Lam’s business with these customers offers a view of their manufacturing investment, not a direct measure of Qnity’s material orders.
Applied Materials and Qnity serve the same investment in chipmaking and advanced packaging: manufacturers buy Applied’s equipment and Qnity’s consumable materials. Watch Applied’s advanced-packaging equipment business, while allowing for Qnity’s material approvals to take multiple quarters before customers ramp orders.
Onto Innovation and Qnity share exposure to chip and advanced-packaging production ramps: manufacturers buy Onto’s tools to measure structures, find defects and print patterns, and Qnity’s process and packaging materials. Onto’s advanced-packaging tool business is especially relevant to Qnity’s Interconnect Solutions growth.
KLA and Qnity both serve chip and circuit-board manufacturers, with KLA selling systems to control production and inspect boards while Qnity sells manufacturing materials. KLA’s Semiconductor Process Control and PCB and Component Inspection businesses provide the relevant view of factory investment as processes grow more complex.
Nova and Qnity sell into the same chipmaking steps: manufacturers buy Nova’s measurement and process-control systems and Qnity’s process chemicals and plating materials. Nova’s systems that analyze and replenish electroplating chemicals give a particularly close view of the processes using Qnity’s plating materials.
Entegris Inc earningsENTG
Entegris competes directly with Qnity in CMP pads and slurries and cleaning chemicals, so its Materials Solutions business offers a read on demand for those overlapping products.
Focus on Entegris’s Materials Solutions sales, not its filtration business. Growth would suggest firm customer demand for CMP and cleaning materials that overlap with Qnity’s; a decline would point to weaker spending in those categories. The products are not identical, so this gauges the shared market, not a guaranteed move in Qnity’s sales or market share.
Qnity Electronics, Inc. earningsThis company
Qnity sells semiconductor materials and electronics interconnect products, and this report will show whether sales growth is translating into profit growth in each business.
Compare sales in Semiconductor Technologies and Interconnect Solutions with each segment’s Adjusted Operating EBITDA, Qnity’s measure of segment profit. If profit rises alongside sales in both, more shipments are translating into earnings; if sales grow but profit lags, pricing, product mix or spending such as research and development may be limiting the payoff.
Onto Innovation Inc. earningsONTO
Onto Innovation’s advanced-packaging tools offer a view of production ramps that use materials from Qnity’s Interconnect Solutions business.
Watch Onto’s advanced-packaging tool business. Stronger demand would suggest manufacturers are expanding production that uses Qnity Interconnect Solutions materials; weaker demand would point to a slower ramp. Tool sales are not Qnity material orders, and qualification can take multiple quarters to convert to volume orders. The takeaway is whether the production backdrop for Qnity’s interconnect business is strengthening, not whether its current revenue must move in step.
