Company

Company overview

Entegris supplies chipmakers with materials used to make chips and products that keep those materials free of contamination. Its Materials Solutions business sells chemicals used to deposit, polish, etch and clean chip layers. Advanced Purity Solutions provides filtration, purification and handling products that keep chemicals, gases and wafers clean and deliver them safely through manufacturing. Semiconductor fabrication plants provide most of its sales, with other semiconductor suppliers and high-technology industries also buying its products.

Most revenue comes from products consumed as customers manufacture chips, so sales depend more on semiconductor production demand than on purchases of new chipmaking equipment. Entegris tailors products to customers’ manufacturing processes; replacing them can take time and put production yields at risk.

Sales are concentrated among a small group of large customers, with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company a significant buyer. Export controls and sanctions restrict sales or support to certain customers and uses, sometimes requiring government licenses, and have already limited Entegris’s ability to sell in China.

Entegris depends chiefly on chip production volumes and purity requirements; also watch Pall in filtration and Merck KGaA—not Merck & Co.—in semiconductor materials.

  • Qnity Electronics competes with Entegris to sell materials approved for use in many of the same chipmakers’ production processes, so chip output matters to both. Watch Qnity’s Semiconductor Technologies sales for demand for materials consumed in chip manufacturing.

  • Entegris depends directly on TSMC, which manufactures chips from customers’ designs and bought materials and purity products accounting for 16% of Entegris’s fiscal 2025 sales. TSMC’s wafer production is the activity to watch for consumption of those products.

  • MKS and Entegris share exposure to chip and electronics manufacturing: MKS sells process subsystems and specialty chemicals to manufacturers, while Entegris supplies materials, purification and fluid-management products. MKS’s semiconductor customer demand is more relevant to Entegris than its specialty-industrial business.

  • Lam Research sells chipmakers equipment that deposits layers, etches patterns and cleans wafers, while Entegris supplies materials and purity products for those same steps. Watch Lam’s demand from memory makers and foundries for investment in the processes Entegris serves.

  • Applied Materials sells chipmakers fabrication equipment for processes that use Entegris’s materials and purity products, but equipment spending is more cyclical than Entegris’s consumables demand. Its Semiconductor Systems sales show fabrication investment rather than a direct read on Entegris’s recurring materials sales.

  • Element Solutions and Entegris both depend on manufacturers’ demand for semiconductor and advanced-packaging materials: Element Solutions sells manufacturing chemicals, while Entegris supplies materials and purity products. Watch its Electronics business rather than Specialties for the closer read on that demand.

  • Ultra Clean and Entegris both serve demand for high-purity chip manufacturing: Ultra Clean sells gas and chemical delivery subsystems to equipment makers and cleaning services to chip and equipment manufacturers, while Entegris supplies fluid-management and purification products. Watch Ultra Clean’s delivery-system business for equipment-related demand, not as a direct measure of Entegris’s consumables sales.

  • KLA and Entegris serve chipmakers’ need for higher manufacturing yields: KLA sells systems that monitor and control production processes, while Entegris supplies materials and products that prevent contamination. Watch KLA’s Semiconductor Process Control demand for customers’ spending on tighter yield control.

  • Amtech Systems competes with Entegris through Intersurface Dynamics, which sells chemicals used to process substrates; Amtech also sells polishing and cleaning consumables to semiconductor manufacturers. Its Semiconductor Fabrication Solutions business is the relevant one to watch, rather than its larger thermal-processing business.

  • Onto Innovation and Entegris both serve manufacturers trying to improve chip and advanced-packaging yields: Onto sells tools that measure structures and inspect defects, while Entegris supplies materials and contamination-control products. Onto’s demand from chip fabricators and advanced-packaging manufacturers shows their investment in measuring and controlling increasingly complex production.

  • FormFactor shares Entegris’s exposure to wafer production: it sells chipmakers probe cards whose electrical contacts wear with repeated wafer testing, while Entegris sells materials consumed in fabrication. Watch FormFactor’s Probe Cards sales rather than its Systems business for that usage-related demand.

  • Amkor’s packaging and testing activity shares a chip-volume driver with Entegris’s manufacturing and advanced-packaging materials consumption, without establishing a direct customer tie. Amkor sells those services to chip companies and foundries; watch its Advanced Products sales for advanced-packaging activity.

  • Linde competes with Entegris to supply chipmakers with electronic and specialty gases, but its gas sales to many other industries dilute that exposure. Watch news about Linde’s electronics gases rather than treating its total industrial-gas sales as a measure of Entegris’s market.
