Company

Company overview

Most of Organon’s revenue comes from its Established Brands portfolio, largely sold outside the United States. Most of these medicines have lost market exclusivity and compete with generics. Drug wholesalers, pharmacies, hospitals and other healthcare institutions buy its products for use by patients; most company-wide sales also come from outside the United States.

Women’s health is its next-largest business, mainly prescription contraception and fertility treatments, including the Nexplanon contraceptive implant. Organon also sells medicines that closely match existing biological drugs, known as biosimilars. That smaller business relies primarily on products developed and manufactured by Samsung Bioepis, which Organon sells under commercialization agreements with geographic limits.

Sales depend on continued access to healthcare funding and insurance coverage, as governments and private payors influence prices and reimbursement. Supply also depends on outside manufacturers and sole-source inputs; Organon relies heavily on one formulation or packaging supplier that enables sales in Japan and China. It must obtain and maintain regulatory authorization in each market. In the United States, Nexplanon’s five-year use indication requires healthcare providers to complete training and enroll in an FDA-mandated safety program.

Organon’s results hinge chiefly on erosion in international mature brands and contraceptive demand, with Samsung Bioepis an important partner behind its biosimilars.

  • Teva sells generic medicines and biosimilars that compete with Organon’s mostly off-patent established brands and its biosimilars. Watch Teva’s generic launches in overseas markets, where Organon earned 91% of its established-brand revenue in 2025.

  • Organon relies on Merck’s licensed technology for Nexplanon, its largest women’s health product, while Merck also pays Organon to manufacture and package medicines. The technology tie underpins Nexplanon/Implanon NXT sales, which totaled $921 million in 2025.

  • AbbVie’s Humira competes with Organon’s Hadlima, a biologic medicine sold as a similar alternative, so AbbVie’s immunology pricing and contract terms matter directly to Hadlima’s growth. Hadlima sales rose from $142 million in 2024 to $228 million in 2025, making it a concrete revenue line to watch.

  • Pfizer competes for Organon’s contraceptive and biosimilar sales through injectable contraception and biosimilar alternatives to Organon’s infliximab and trastuzumab products.

  • Organon depends on Lilly to supply Emgality, which Organon sells under a distribution agreement in Europe, Canada and other specified markets. Lilly’s Emgality supply news therefore matters to the product revenue Organon earns in those markets.
