GH Research PLC is a clinical-stage drug developer initially focused on treatment-resistant depression—depression that has not responded to treatment. Most of its work and funding go into GH001, an inhaled mebufotenin candidate, and GH002, an intravenous candidate. Neither is approved for sale. The company has generated no revenue and has funded operations mainly by issuing shares.
If approved, the therapies are expected to be administered by certified healthcare providers in qualified third-party clinics or treatment centers. GH Research plans to sell into major U.S. and European healthcare markets itself or through partners; collaboration or licensing agreements could also bring payments. Future sales would depend on clinicians and patients adopting the treatments and payors providing coverage and adequate reimbursement.
The business depends on completing clinical development, securing approval and raising more funding. GH001 also needs an acceptable delivery device; its proprietary aerosol device remains in development. Outside contractors develop and manufacture trial supplies. In the United States, mebufotenin is a Schedule I controlled substance, so drug approval alone would not permit sales: the substance or approved dosage form must also be moved to a less restrictive category, with separate state decisions potentially required.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
GH Research’s prospects hinge on mebufotenin trial results and approval; watch AtaiBeckley’s competing treatment-resistant depression programs BPL-003 and VLS-01, which do not appear here as standalone candidates.
COMPASS Pathways Plc is pursuing the same treatment-resistant depression patients as GH Research, with psilocybin-based COMP360 competing against GH’s mebufotenin therapies. Watch COMP360’s Phase 3 results and, if approved, its uptake among the US public and private healthcare providers and clinic networks COMPASS plans to target.
Helus Pharma Inc. develops drugs designed to selectively activate serotonin receptors, which GH Research identifies as competitors to its mebufotenin depression programs. Watch clinical progress in HLP003, HLP004 and HLP005 rather than product sales: these remain development programs, and Helus does not expect product-sale revenue for the foreseeable future.
Definium Therapeutics, Inc. overlaps GH Research’s depression market with DT120 ODT, a lysergide treatment being developed for major depressive disorder, while GH focuses on treatment-resistant depression. Watch DT120 ODT’s Phase 3 depression results; US commercialization would also require controlled-substance rescheduling after FDA approval.
Axsome Therapeutics, Inc already sells AUVELITY for major depressive disorder in the US, competing with the depression treatments GH Research is still developing. Watch AUVELITY sales for evidence of uptake of an existing alternative, rather than Axsome’s combined revenue from depression, sleepiness and migraine medicines.
Xenon Pharmaceuticals Inc is developing azetukalner for major depressive disorder, competing for depression patients alongside GH Research’s mebufotenin programs for treatment-resistant depression. Watch azetukalner’s Phase 3 results in major depressive disorder, rather than its epilepsy or bipolar depression trials; Xenon has no product-sales revenue.
Korsana Biosciences, Inc.’s supplied Cyclerion disclosures describe CYC-126, a monitored intravenous treatment targeting the same treatment-resistant depression patients as GH Research’s mebufotenin therapies. Watch clinical evidence for its hospital-based, individualized delivery of propofol and dexmedetomidine: the proposed benefits of controlled sedation remain company beliefs, not established results.
Axsome Therapeutics, Inc earningsAXSM
Axsome Therapeutics’ report will show AUVELITY sales, revealing uptake of an existing depression treatment and the competition it may pose for GH Research’s therapies in development.
Watch AUVELITY sales, not Axsome’s combined revenue from depression, sleepiness and migraine medicines. Stronger sales would show that an existing depression treatment is gaining use and may add competition in the broader treatment market. Weaker sales would show more limited uptake of AUVELITY, but would not prove that patients lack interest in GH Research’s different treatments for treatment-resistant depression. The takeaway is how well this existing alternative is being adopted, not demand for GH Research’s candidates.
COMPASS Pathways Plc earningsCMPS
COMPASS Pathways’ report will show Phase 3 progress for COMP360 in treatment-resistant depression, indicating how directly it competes with GH Research for patients and treatment capacity.
Read COMP360’s Phase 3 results and whether the program advances: it targets the same treatment-resistant depression patients as GH Research’s candidates. Persuasive results and continued progress would bring a direct competitor closer to seeking patients and treatment capacity at U.S. public and private providers and clinics; weak or inconclusive results would leave that competitive path less established, but would not show that GH Research’s therapies work. The conclusion is whether competition for the same patients is advancing, not whether either treatment is proven.

GH Research’s report will show how much research spending goes to lead candidate GH001 and whether cash use is narrowing the room to advance its programs.
Read the share of research spending allocated to GH001 alongside cash used in operations and cash on hand. Continued investment in GH001 with cash still supporting operations would show the company can keep advancing its lead program with available resources; faster cash use and less cash on hand would mean progress depends more on raising funds, even if development spending continues. The question is whether GH Research can keep advancing its lead program with the resources it has.
