Company

Company overview

Ero Copper Corp.’s subsidiary MCSA operates the Caraíba and Tucumã copper mines in Brazil, processing mined ore into copper concentrate for sale to metal buyers. These operations supply most of the company’s revenue. Its subsidiary NX Gold operates the Xavantina gold mine, selling gold in unrefined bars and concentrate.

The company sells into global copper and gold markets and does not depend on a particular purchaser. Part of Xavantina’s gold goes to Royal Gold under a long-term agreement: Royal Gold provided upfront funding in exchange for a share of production and pays a contractually set portion of the market price when gold is delivered.

All of Ero Copper’s operating mines are in Brazil. Earnings depend on the metal prices it receives and the cost of extracting and processing ore; the company cannot control world-market copper and gold prices. Mining also requires Brazilian permits and compliance with environmental, water-use, tailings and mine-safety rules. Failure to obtain or retain required approvals can halt or limit operations.

  • Hudbay and Ero Copper both sell mainly copper, with meaningful gold production, into global metals markets, so copper and gold prices affect both. Watch Hudbay’s copper mine costs alongside its gold output when comparing Ero’s operating performance.

  • The supplied facts for Trekor Metals Limited describe Taseko: its operating Gibraltar copper mine and Florence start-up offer a comparison for Ero Copper’s Caraíba and newly commercial Tucumã mines. Watch Florence’s production ramp-up when assessing Tucumã’s progress.

  • Freeport-McMoRan and Ero Copper earn most of their revenue from copper sales, with gold a meaningful second source, so both respond to the same metal prices. Freeport’s copper and gold revenue lines are more useful for this comparison than its total revenue.

  • Southern Copper and Ero Copper both mine and process copper in Latin America, sharing exposure to copper prices and regional mine costs. Southern Copper also turns concentrates into refined copper in Peru and Mexico, whereas Ero sells concentrates from Brazil, so their processing costs are not directly comparable.

  • Teck and Ero Copper both sell copper concentrates from mines in the Americas, and copper supplies most of each company’s revenue. Watch Teck’s copper revenue rather than its zinc business when comparing the prices and concentrate terms affecting Ero.

  • Aura and Ero Copper both operate Brazilian gold mines and sell gold products and copper concentrates, sharing exposure to metal prices, Brazilian mining costs and currency movements. Aura is gold-led, so its Brazilian gold operations offer a closer comparison for Ero’s Xavantina than for Ero’s copper-led business overall.

  • Buenaventura and Ero Copper sell copper-bearing concentrates and gold products from Latin American mines to global metals buyers. Watch Buenaventura’s concentrate sales price adjustments: its smelter and trader customers pay prices that are finalized after shipment, making those revenues sensitive to metal-price changes.

  • BHP and Ero Copper both produce and sell copper, so copper prices, mine costs and output matter to both; copper supplied more than half of BHP’s FY2026 earnings despite its iron ore and coal businesses. Watch BHP’s copper operations rather than its group totals for a comparison with Ero.

  • Vale’s copper-producing base-metals business holds Furnas, where Ero Copper can earn a 60% interest by funding phased work and meeting milestones over five years. Watch Furnas development milestones, not Vale’s iron ore sales: Vale Base Metals retains full tenure until Ero meets those conditions.

  • Royal Gold provided Ero Copper with upfront funding in exchange for the right to buy a contractual share of Xavantina’s gold at agreed prices—a gold stream—without operating the mine. Watch Xavantina gold deliveries to Royal Gold: its entitlement is 25% until cumulative deliveries reach 160,000 ounces, then 10% for the remaining mine life.

  • Centerra’s Mount Milligan gold-copper mine and Öksüt gold mine share exposure to the two metal prices driving Ero Copper’s sales. Their gold and copper operating results offer a closer comparison for Ero than Centerra’s separate business buying and upgrading molybdenum concentrates.

  • Rio Tinto’s substantial copper business shares Ero Copper’s exposure to copper prices, but iron ore and aluminium diversify Rio’s results. Watch Rio’s copper-segment earnings rather than group earnings when comparing the copper market’s effect on Ero’s sales.
