Company

Company overview

Large enterprises and government organizations use eGain Corporation’s software to put company knowledge to work in customer service and employee workflows. Its eGain AI Knowledge Hub provides governed answers that other enterprise AI tools can retrieve, alongside offerings such as eGain AI Agent. The software can connect with customers’ existing business systems.

Customers pay for access through eGain’s company-managed cloud platform, with subscription pricing based on the number of agents or self-service sessions. Software arrangements account for nearly all revenue; implementation, consulting and other professional services contribute a smaller share. eGain sells mainly directly to enterprises in North America and Western Europe and also earns royalties through software embedded in other companies’ products, including its Cisco OEM business.

The business depends on customers renewing and expanding subscriptions. Its largest customers supply most revenue, and one major customer is also a partner. For customers in regulated industries, required controls and regulatory approvals can determine whether eGain may provide services. Privacy rules also constrain how it handles and transfers customer data.

Beyond this list, eGain faces important competition from Verint and privately held vendors Genesys, Talkdesk, KMS Lighthouse and Shelf in knowledge management and contact centers.

  • Upland Software, Inc. competes with eGain for enterprise spending on AI-powered tools that help employees and customers find answers. Watch its knowledge-management products for employee access, customer self-service and contact centers—the overlap with eGain, rather than its broader software portfolio.

  • NICE Ltd competes with eGain to supply businesses with customer-engagement, enterprise-knowledge and AI-assisted service software. Watch how it combines Cognigy's conversational AI with CXone, which coordinates workflows, AI and human agents, and enterprise knowledge.

  • Cisco buys eGain software under an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) relationship, making it a direct source of eGain revenue rather than just a software peer. That revenue line generated $10.93 million, approximately 12% of eGain's fiscal 2026 revenue.

  • Salesforce, Inc. is an eGain platform partner that also competes where its customer-management and AI-agent software overlaps with eGain's enterprise customer-service tools. Its business customers pay mainly through subscriptions; watch Agentforce 360's integration of people, AI agents, applications and data.

  • Sprinklr, Inc. competes with eGain for enterprise customer-service budgets through AI-enabled digital and conversational engagement. Watch Sprinklr Service, which sells businesses customer-service tools across voice, digital and social channels, rather than its marketing and insights products.

  • ServiceNow is an eGain platform partner that also competes to sell enterprises customer-service workflows and AI capabilities where their products overlap. Watch its customer-management offering, which connects service with sales, field service and order management.

  • Helport AI Limited competes with eGain to equip enterprise contact-center staff with real-time guidance and knowledge tools. Its main revenue source is AI services built on AI Assist, so watch that software's guidance and knowledge-base capabilities rather than its separate offering that also supplies customer-contact staff.

  • Microsoft is an eGain platform partner that also competes where its enterprise customer-service and AI capabilities overlap with eGain's knowledge and engagement software. For eGain holders, that overlap matters more than Microsoft's much broader sales of cloud solutions, software and devices.
