Company overview

DeFi Development Corp.’s main business is buying and managing SOL, the Solana network’s digital token, and related assets. It delegates holdings to outside operators that validate network transactions, receiving a share of their SOL rewards after commissions. These staking rewards provide most of its revenue. It also earns SOL rewards from validators it owns and fees for managing other validators. Cash on hand and debt and share issuance fund its SOL purchases.

The business depends on Solana’s continued use and operation. Rewards vary with the network’s token issuance rules, validator performance and the amount staked relative to the network total. The company uses Kraken for nearly all its SOL spot trading and relies on outside providers for custody and staking services. It is not registered as an investment company; if SOL were classified as a security, it could need to change its holdings or operations to avoid registration.

Its separate real estate platform matches commercial-property and small-business borrowers with lenders. Lenders, and sometimes borrowers, pay fees when loans close. Real estate investors raising equity also pay subscriptions for Janover Connect, which handles investor documents, investments and portfolio tracking. This business contributes less revenue than the digital-asset business, and its transaction fees depend on loans being completed.

  • Sol Strategies Inc. shares DeFi Development’s exposure to SOL prices, and their Solana validators compete for tokens delegated by holders to earn network rewards. Sol Strategies serves institutional and retail staking customers; changes in the stake its validators attract show how that competition is developing.

  • Upexi, Inc. and DeFi Development both hold SOL-centered treasuries and entrust tokens to Solana validators to earn network staking rewards, tying both to SOL prices and staking returns. Upexi’s SOL staking yield is the relevant comparison, rather than sales from its consumer-product brands.

  • Solana Company and DeFi Development both accumulate SOL through staking rewards and capital-market financing, so SOL prices and access to funding matter to both. Solana Company’s goal of increasing SOL per share makes its financing and resulting token holdings worth watching alongside DeFi Development’s purchases.

  • Forward Industries, Inc. runs a SOL treasury and staking strategy alongside its design business, giving it closely matching investment exposure to DeFi Development. Its SOL holdings and staking strategy are the relevant comparison, rather than its design work.

  • SkyAI, Inc. shares DeFi Development’s concentrated exposure to SOL: its disclosed treasury holds over two million SOL, including staking rewards. Developments affecting SOL or its network therefore matter to both; its SOL holdings and staking rewards are the useful comparison.

  • DeFi Development relies on BitGo Holdings, Inc. to safeguard approximately 20%–50% of its SOL holdings in segregated cold wallets, with the share varying by trading and staking activity. BitGo earns custody and wallet fees from clients; its custody security and segregation of client assets matter directly to the SOL it holds for DeFi Development.
