Company

Company overview

Community West Bancshares conducts its banking business through Community West Bank, serving businesses and individuals from Sacramento south to Bakersfield and west to California’s Central Coast. The bank provides deposit accounts and loans, including financing for small and medium-sized businesses and commercial properties.

Borrowers pay interest on loans, which generate most of the company’s interest and fee income. The bank also earns interest on investment securities. Its main source of earnings is the interest it collects less the interest it pays on deposits and other funding. Maintaining deposits at an affordable cost matters because they supply most of the money used for lending and investment; changes in market rates can affect income and funding costs at different speeds.

Most loans are secured by real estate, so repayment and collateral values depend heavily on local business conditions and California property markets. The business is geographically concentrated, but no single customer or related group is material to its overall business or deposits. Regulatory capital requirements also constrain lending growth and distributions to shareholders.
