Coty’s business centers on fragrances, with prestige beauty supplying most of its revenue. It sells products to retailers and distributors worldwide and also directly to consumers online. Prestige products reach shoppers through specialist beauty stores, department stores and duty-free shops; mass-market products, including CoverGirl cosmetics, sell through supermarkets, drugstores and online retailers. Coty manufactures and packages most of its products itself, and also sells skin and body care products.
The business depends on both brands Coty owns and rights to use other companies’ brands. A small group of leading brands supplies most of its prestige sales. License agreements commonly require royalties, minimum sales and quality standards; losing a license can remove Coty’s right to sell the products. Coty has agreed to return the Gucci Beauty license to Kering in exchange for cash, but will continue operating the brand through at least June 30, 2027.
Retailer orders and shelf space are important to sales, and Coty generally has no long-term sales commitments from retail customers. No retailer dominates global revenue, though individual retailers are important in some markets. Demand rises around the winter holidays, while changing beauty preferences require successful new products. Product claims must meet local substantiation rules, which can limit what Coty may say about or sell.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Coty depends heavily on fragrance demand and brand licenses, making Kering one to watch as Gucci Beauty’s return is expected to reduce Coty’s revenue and net income in fiscal 2028.
Interparfums and Coty both pay for rights to develop and sell prestige fragrances under other brands, competing for shoppers and brand licenses. Watch Interparfums’ fragrance sales and license wins or renewals: fragrance accounted for 67.3% of Coty’s fiscal 2026 net revenue.
Estée Lauder competes with Coty for consumers’ prestige fragrance, makeup and skincare spending across international markets. Its sales in those categories offer a read on demand for Coty’s Prestige business, which supplied about 66% of Coty’s fiscal 2026 net revenue.
e.l.f. Beauty competes with Coty’s Consumer Beauty business for shoppers buying eye, lip and face cosmetics through mass retailers and online. Its lower-priced launches are worth watching for pressure on Coty’s makeup sales: e.l.f. Cosmetics held four of the top 10 new mass-cosmetics products in 2025, according to Nielsen.
ODDITY Tech Ltd.’s IL MAKIAGE sells beauty products directly to online shoppers, competing with Coty’s color cosmetics as Coty expands online and direct sales. Watch IL MAKIAGE’s online sales and ODDITY’s use of AI to attract customers and recommend products for signs of competition for digital beauty shoppers.
Yatsen competes with Coty for Chinese consumers’ makeup and skincare spending, but its geographic and product exposure is narrower than Coty’s. It is a comparison for Coty’s China beauty business, not its broader fragrance-led portfolio.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Coty’s Fed-rate exposure runs through variable-rate borrowings on its revolving facility: the policy rate tracks the cost of borrowing, so higher rates can raise the interest Coty pays and lower rates can reduce it.

If it comes in above expectations
Higher-than-expected rates can make Coty’s revolving-facility borrowings more expensive as they reprice, increasing interest costs and leaving less cash for operations or investment.
If it comes in below expectations
Lower-than-expected rates can make Coty’s revolving-facility borrowings cheaper as they reprice, reducing interest costs and preserving more cash for operations or investment.
The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. earningsEL
Estée Lauder’s report will show how shoppers are spending on fragrance, makeup and skincare, offering a demand read-through for Coty’s largest business, Prestige.
Watch Estée Lauder’s sales in fragrance, makeup and skincare. Strength across those categories would suggest demand is holding up in the prestige beauty market where Coty’s Prestige business competes; weakness would point to possible market pressure, not prove Coty’s own sales fell.
COTY INC earningsThis company
Coty’s Prestige business supplies most of its revenue while Consumer Beauty is loss-making, and this report will show whether Prestige holds up as Consumer Beauty narrows its loss.
Read Prestige sales and operating income alongside Consumer Beauty’s operating loss. Steady Prestige results with a narrower Consumer Beauty loss would mean Coty is improving the loss-making business while protecting its main profit source; if the loss narrows as Prestige weakens, the improvement may come at the expense of the business carrying Coty.
e.l.f. Beauty, Inc. earningsELF
e.l.f. Beauty’s report will show how its lower-priced makeup sells in mass retail and online, offering a read on competition for Coty’s Consumer Beauty cosmetics.
Watch e.l.f. Beauty’s makeup sales and new-product performance. Strong sales and launches that keep attracting buyers would point to tougher low-price competition for Coty’s Consumer Beauty cosmetics at mass retailers; weaker results would ease that signal, but would not mean Coty has won back sales.
Interparfums, Inc. earningsIPAR
Interparfums’ report will show sales of its licensed fragrances and progress on licenses, offering a read on demand and brand-rights competition for Coty’s large fragrance business.
Read Interparfums’ fragrance sales separately from its license wins or renewals. Steady sales would support the prestige-fragrance demand picture; active signings or renewals would show brands continue to place fragrance rights with partners, keeping competition for licenses relevant to Coty. Weakness in both would point to possible demand or licensing pressure, but would not establish that Coty won or lost a license.
Yatsen Holding Limited earningsYSG
Yatsen’s report will reflect Chinese consumer demand for makeup and skincare, offering a limited read-through for Coty’s exposure to those categories in China.
Watch Yatsen’s makeup and skincare sales. Strength would suggest Chinese consumer demand in those categories is holding up, a constructive market signal for Coty’s related China business; weakness would point to possible local demand pressure. Yatsen’s category and geographic exposure is narrower than Coty’s, so its results cannot stand in for Coty overall, especially its global, fragrance-led business.
