Allstate provides insurance for drivers and homeowners, mainly in the United States and also in Canada. Customers pay premiums for coverage against losses, and Allstate pays covered claims. Auto insurance is its largest business, followed by homeowners insurance; insurance premiums supply most of its revenue. Customers can buy Allstate policies through its exclusive agents or directly from the company.
Allstate also earns income from its investment portfolio. A smaller business, Allstate Protection Plans, sells coverage for electronics, appliances and other consumer goods through retailers and mobile operators.
Insurance profitability depends on premiums covering claims and operating costs. Accident frequency, repair costs and severe-weather losses affect that balance. State regulators can restrict price increases, coverage terms and decisions to stop writing or renewing policies, limiting how quickly Allstate can respond to higher claims costs.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Allstate’s results hinge on auto claims costs, homeowners catastrophe losses and premium pricing; privately held State Farm, Liberty Mutual and Farmers are also important competitors to watch.
Progressive competes with Allstate for drivers and homeowners paying for insurance, making its pricing and claims experience a useful reference for Allstate. Watch its personal auto and residential property results for changes in premiums and claim costs.
Travelers and Allstate compete for U.S. drivers and homeowners buying coverage, so both face personal insurance pricing and claims trends. Travelers’ Personal Insurance results offer the relevant comparison, rather than its business insurance operations.
Berkshire Hathaway competes with Allstate through GEICO, which sells U.S. personal auto coverage mainly online and by phone. Watch GEICO’s rates and claims results; Berkshire’s rail, energy and other businesses make the overall stock a less direct comparison.
Cincinnati Financial competes with Allstate for homeowners and auto policyholders, selling coverage through independent insurance agencies. Personal insurance accounted for 32.8% of its 2025 net written premiums, so that business—not the whole company—is the closer comparison for Allstate.
The Hartford competes with Allstate for personal auto and homeowners policyholders through a personal insurance business focused on AARP customers.
Chubb competes with Allstate for homeowners and personal auto policyholders, particularly affluent households, while also serving commercial customers globally.
Hanover competes with Allstate for personal auto and homeowners customers through independent agents, alongside its larger commercial insurance operations.
Horace Mann Educators Corporation competes with Allstate for personal auto and homeowners customers, but concentrates on educators. Its pricing and service for that group offer a focused view of the competition Allstate faces in the education market.
Root competes with Allstate for U.S. personal auto customers, selling policies and paying claims itself. It uses tracked driving data alongside claims data to choose which drivers to insure—telematics-based risk selection—so watch how that approach shapes its auto pricing and losses.
Safety Insurance Group Inc competes with Allstate for personal auto policyholders in Massachusetts, but operates only in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. Its auto business sold through independent agents is a local competitive reference, not a nationwide comparison for Allstate.
Lemonade competes with Allstate for renters, homeowners and car insurance customers, selling coverage predominantly through digital channels. Watch its ability to attract and retain those policyholders through its apps and website as a measure of that competition.
American Integrity Insurance Group, Inc. both competes with Allstate for Florida homeowners and provides coverage Allstate can offer while selling its own auto insurance. American Integrity bears the homeowners coverage in that arrangement, so growth in its insurer partnerships is worth watching for Allstate’s auto cross-selling opportunities.
Hippo Holdings Inc. competes with Allstate for homeowners insurance customers through its technology-oriented insurance and carrier platform, which provides insurance businesses with licensed underwriting capacity. Watch its home insurance pricing and risk selection; Allstate’s ability to bundle home coverage with other policies is part of the competition Hippo faces.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Fed’s decision on its benchmark interest rate matters to Allstate because it can change income from the company’s investments and the value of its fixed-income holdings.

If it comes in above expectations
Higher-than-expected rates may raise income as maturing investments are replaced at higher yields, but can reduce the value of existing fixed-income holdings.
If it comes in below expectations
Lower-than-expected rates may support the value of existing fixed-income holdings, but reduce income as maturing investments are replaced at lower yields.
The Allstate Corporation earningsThis company
Allstate’s report will show whether auto and homeowners premiums are keeping pace with claim costs and supporting underwriting income.
Read auto and homeowners premiums earned alongside claims and other underwriting costs; underwriting income is what remains after those costs are deducted from premiums. If premiums cover rising claims and expenses and underwriting income holds up, Allstate’s pricing and risk selection are supporting the business. If claims and expenses grow faster and underwriting income narrows, premiums are not yet keeping pace with losses—especially worth checking against vehicle repair, home rebuilding and catastrophe costs. The conclusion is whether Allstate is still turning its core insurance business into underwriting profit.
American Integrity Insurance Group, Inc. earningsAII
American Integrity Insurance Group’s report will show whether its insurer partnerships are expanding, a clue to the availability of partner-provided homeowners coverage alongside Allstate auto policies.
Look for growth in American Integrity Insurance Group’s insurer partnerships alongside expansion in its homeowners business. If both grow, partner-provided home coverage is becoming more available, potentially widening Allstate’s opportunity to pair it with its own auto policies. If partnerships stall or the homeowners business does not expand, that cross-selling route is not widening. American Integrity’s growth does not prove Allstate has sold more policies; the conclusion is whether the channel opportunity is growing.
