Banks and merchants use ACI Worldwide’s software to authorize payments, route transactions, settle funds and check for fraud. Its Payment Software business contributes slightly more revenue than its other major business, Biller. Software for issuing cards and accepting card payments, including BASE24, is a substantial revenue source.
Biller helps organizations such as utilities, insurers and healthcare providers present bills and collect payments in the United States. Fees can be paid by the biller or the person paying the bill, and depend on transactions or enrolled customers. This business accounts for nearly as much revenue as Payment Software.
Across both businesses, cloud-delivered software and processing generate most revenue. Customers pay subscription or usage-based fees, or license software to run on their own premises or in the cloud. Licenses have capacity limits, with extra charges when usage exceeds them; ACI also earns from maintenance and implementation. Contracts generally span several years, so revenue depends on renewals and payment volumes rather than one dominant customer. Adoption of ACI Connetic, its cloud-native payments hub, is another important dependency.
ACI’s U.S. money-transfer services require state licenses where applicable. Its processing services must follow payment-network rules, which can restrict or suspend its ability to process transactions. It must also operate under existing regulatory consent orders and compliance agreements.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
ACI's results hinge on electronic bill-payment volumes and banks modernizing their payment systems, making FIS an important rival to watch beyond this list.
Paymentus competes directly for ACI's biller customers, charging transaction fees to help utilities, lenders, insurers and governments present bills online and collect payments. Its transaction-fee revenue is worth watching for competition in ACI's Biller business, which generated $817.7 million in 2025.
Fiserv challenges ACI across bank payment processing, merchant payments and electronic bill payments, serving customers that also buy ACI's payment software and services. Watch Fiserv's account- and transaction-based processing revenue for the competitive backdrop across these businesses.
Repay competes for ACI's bill-payment customers in lending, mortgage servicing, receivables management and healthcare, helping those organizations collect electronic payments from consumers. Its Consumer Payments revenue is the relevant line to watch: it accounted for approximately 85% of Repay's 2025 revenue after intersegment eliminations.
Global Payments, including its acquired Worldpay business, competes with ACI to help merchants accept and process customer payments. Most of its Merchant Solutions revenue comes from fees tied to transaction value or count, making that revenue a useful reference for ACI's merchant-payment market.
Euronet competes for ACI's financial-institution and central-bank software customers: its Ren and legacy software coordinate payments, support card issuance and merchant payment acceptance, and route transactions. Watch Ren's progress as an alternative to ACI's payment hubs and issuing, acquiring and transaction-switching software.
Mastercard and ACI both benefit from more electronic payments, but compete in processing them and enabling payments between bank accounts: Mastercard connects banks that issue cards with institutions that handle merchant payments, while ACI sells payment software to banks and intermediaries. Watch Mastercard's real-time account-payment capabilities for competition with ACI's bank payment systems.
Visa competes with ACI in digital payment processing, while rising transaction counts expand demand for both Visa's network connecting financial institutions and merchants and ACI's payment software and services. Watch transactions processed by Visa as a gauge of the electronic-payment activity that also supports ACI.
Euronet Worldwide Inc earningsEEFT
Euronet's report will show whether Ren is gaining ground as an alternative to ACI Worldwide's payment hubs and bank payment software.
Look for evidence in Euronet's report that customers are adopting Ren, and read it against ACI Worldwide's business selling payment software to banks and financial institutions. If Ren adoption is advancing, those buyers have a more active alternative and competition for ACI's customers is sharper; if progress is limited, that pressure looks less forceful. The report cannot by itself show that Ren took customers from ACI, but it can show whether the alternative is gaining traction.
VISA Inc. earningsV
Visa's report will show how electronic-payment activity is changing, providing a gauge of the market that supports ACI Worldwide's payment-processing business.
Watch whether Visa's processed transactions keep growing or slow. Continued growth signals expanding electronic-payment activity, a supportive backdrop for demand for ACI Worldwide's software and processing services; slower growth points to a less supportive backdrop. Visa's network transactions are not ACI's own volumes, but they indicate activity in the wider electronic-payment market both serve.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Fed’s decision tracks the US policy rate that helps set borrowing costs; higher rates can raise interest expense on ACI Worldwide’s debt that reprices and reduce what it earns after costs.

If it comes in above expectations
If the policy rate is higher than expected, interest costs on ACI Worldwide’s debt that reprices may rise, leaving less earnings after interest expense.
If it comes in below expectations
If the policy rate is lower than expected, interest costs on ACI Worldwide’s debt that reprices may ease, leaving more earnings after interest expense.
Mastercard Incorporated earningsMA
Mastercard's report will show how its real-time account-payment business is developing as a competitor to ACI Worldwide's bank payment systems.
Look for signs that Mastercard's real-time account-payment services are gaining use, keeping that separate from its overall transaction volume. If use is expanding, banks have a more established alternative for payments between accounts, making competition for ACI Worldwide's bank payment systems more direct; if progress is limited, that signal is weaker. Mastercard's total transactions alone do not establish how this particular service is doing.
Paymentus Holdings, Inc. earningsPAY
Paymentus's report will show how its transaction-fee bill-payment business is developing as it competes with ACI Worldwide for biller customers.
Read Paymentus's transaction-fee revenue alongside the direction of ACI Worldwide's Biller revenue, not as a like-for-like comparison of total dollars. If Paymentus's fee revenue strengthens, its bill-collection business is expanding and competition for utilities, lenders, insurers, and government customers is more active; if it weakens, that pressure looks less forceful, but it does not prove customers shifted to ACI. The conclusion is whether a direct competitor is expanding in bill payments, not whether ACI won customers.
Global Payments, Inc. earningsGPN
Global Payments' report will show how transaction-linked revenue is changing in the merchant-payment market where it competes with ACI Worldwide.
Read growth in Global Payments' transaction-linked Merchant Solutions revenue alongside ACI Worldwide's merchant-payment business. If that revenue grows, merchant payment processing is active, though the increase could also reflect a competitor winning more business; if it slows, activity may be weaker or competition sharper, and this figure alone cannot distinguish the cause. The report helps gauge the shared market and competitive pressure, not predict ACI's merchant revenue.
ACI Worldwide, Inc. earningsThis company
ACI Worldwide's report will show whether growth in its cloud software and payment-platform subscriptions is translating into operating profit.
Read growth in cloud software and platform subscriptions (SaaS/PaaS) alongside operating margin, the share of revenue left after operating costs. Faster subscription growth with a steady or rising margin would show ACI is scaling recurring payment processing while preserving profitability. Slower growth or a falling margin would show that growth is translating less effectively into operating profit. Together, the two indicate whether this business is scaling profitably or mainly adding revenue.
