XTL Biopharmaceuticals entered psychedelic therapeutics by acquiring Psyga Bio in June 2026. Psyga develops products derived from psychedelic and functional mushrooms, including treatment candidates and wellness formulations. Its drug candidates remain in preclinical or early clinical development and none is approved. XTL has not yet recorded drug-product sales; securities offerings and option and warrant exercises have supplied most of its funding.
Turning these candidates into products that generate revenue depends on clinical development and regulatory permission. Candidates containing U.S. Schedule I controlled substances face strict research and manufacturing requirements. Even FDA approval would not permit U.S. sales until the DEA separately changes the substance’s legal classification. XTL also needs additional capital to sustain development.
XTL retains a separate legacy pharmaceutical asset, hCDR1, a potential treatment for lupus and Sjögren’s syndrome. It sublicensed the asset to Biossil on a royalty-free basis and no longer actively develops it.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
XTL’s outlook now hinges on Psyga Bio’s mushroom-derived treatments and readiness for GMP-certified manufacturing, in a psychedelic-therapy market that also includes MindMed and atai Life Sciences.
Psyence Biomedical and XTL’s Psyga Bio both need clinical evidence to turn mushroom-derived psychedelics into treatments, but Psyence already uses GMP-compliant psilocybin supply while some Psyga Bio trials await certified material. Watch Psyence’s Australian Phase IIb study of NPX-5 alongside psychotherapy for adjustment disorder associated with incurable cancer; its business remains clinical development rather than established product sales.
COMPASS Pathways is a more advanced rival to XTL’s mushroom-derived treatment developer Psyga Bio, pursuing a rolling drug-approval application for its COMP360 psilocybin treatment for treatment-resistant depression. Watch that approval process and, if approved, its planned sales to US public and private healthcare providers and clinic networks—the customers it aims to reach ahead of less advanced competitors.
Helus Pharma, formerly Cybin, competes in the same emerging treatment market as XTL’s Psyga Bio, but engineers drugs to selectively activate serotonin receptors rather than developing mushroom-derived treatments. Watch clinical progress for HLP003, HLP004 and HLP005: these are development programs, and meaningful product revenue depends on successful trials, approval and commercialization.
GH Research is a more advanced psychedelic-treatment rival to XTL’s Psyga Bio, so its progress matters to the competition XTL faces. Watch approval progress for GH001 and GH002: if approved, GH Research plans to sell to public and private healthcare providers, clinic networks and third-party payors in the United States and major European markets, either itself or with commercial partners.

COMPASS Pathways’ report will show how close its psilocybin treatment is to approval and healthcare providers, the customers Psyga Bio may also need to reach.
Watch COMP360’s approval progress alongside COMPASS Pathways’ plans to reach U.S. healthcare providers and clinic networks. Progress on both fronts would show that this more advanced rival is moving toward customers Psyga Bio may seek; delays or difficulty building those channels would mean less immediate competitive pressure, not proof that Psyga Bio will succeed.
