Company

Company overview

World Kinect Corporation buys fuel from suppliers and arranges delivery to airlines, ship operators and land-based businesses that need to keep their operations running. Fuel and related product sales generate most of its revenue, with aviation the largest business. Its airport fueling operations and outside suppliers deliver fuel into aircraft or storage, while related services help customers manage fuel purchases and plan flights. The land business also supplies natural gas and serves retail fuel outlets.

Customers buy under contracts or through individual spot purchases. In much of the land and marine business, World Kinect buys and resells fuel at the same time rather than holding it first. Profit depends on how much fuel it sells and the margin it keeps on each unit. Supplier credit helps fund purchases, and collecting payment matters because many customers receive unsecured credit. Transportation activity and reliable access to suppliers underpin the business; no single customer dominates revenue. Trade restrictions and sanctions limit where it can operate and sell.

World Kinect has begun exiting several land businesses, including direct fuel transportation and power. It intends to focus that segment on natural gas, retail fuel outlets and its cardlock network, where customers use cards to obtain fuel.

  • ARKO Petroleum Corp. competes with World Kinect in supplying fuel to retail outlets and commercial fleets—the customers at the heart of World Kinect's continuing land-business focus. Watch ARKO's wholesale and fleet-fueling fuel contribution for a comparison with the businesses World Kinect is prioritizing.

  • CBL International Limited competes with World Kinect for container fleets, bulk carriers and tankers by buying marine fuel, arranging delivery and letting customers pay on credit. CBL's expansion beyond its core container-liner customers into bulk carriers and tankers is the customer shift to watch.

  • Uni-Fuels Holdings Limited competes with World Kinect by reselling third-party marine fuel to shipping companies and introducing fuel buyers to suppliers for a commission. Its marine-fuel sales revenue, rather than its much smaller brokerage revenue, is the closer comparison with World Kinect's mainly resale-based marine business.

  • CrossAmerica Partners LP Common competes with World Kinect in supplying motor fuel to retail outlets, a market World Kinect is prioritizing in its land business. Watch CrossAmerica's wholesale fuel business rather than its convenience-store merchandise sales for the closer comparison.

  • Phillips 66 competes across World Kinect's fuel businesses by selling road, aviation and marine fuels to overlapping wholesale and commercial customers. Its gasoline, diesel and aviation-fuel marketing, plus marine-fuel sales in the United Kingdom, are more directly relevant than its pipeline or chemicals businesses.

  • PTL LTD competes with World Kinect by buying marine fuel for shipping fleets, arranging suppliers' direct delivery to vessels and providing customer credit, with its business concentrated in Hong Kong. Fuel delivered at Hong Kong ports accounted for 94.9% of PTL's 2025 revenue, making that the local market to watch rather than treating PTL as a global comparison.

  • TMD Energy Limited competes locally with World Kinect's global marine-fuel offering by using fueling vessels to deliver fuel to domestic and international ships in Malaysian waters. Watch its bunkering-services revenue and any plans to expand beyond Malaysian waters; World Kinect mainly resells fuel and relies on third parties for vessel fueling.

EIA Crude Oil Stocks Change (Oct/16)

World Kinect’s aviation, land and marine fuel business depends on what customers buy and what it pays to secure fuel, so U.S. crude and gasoline stocks matter because they signal fuel supply and can shift prices, sales and working-capital needs.
