Company

Company overview

Trio Petroleum Corp.’s active production is concentrated in the Lloydminster heavy-oil region of Saskatchewan, Canada. All its currently active wells are on properties acquired from Novacor, and oil buyers provide all its customer revenue. It plans further work on existing Canadian wells and has acquired another Canadian project from Capital Land.

The company also holds a majority interest in California’s South Salinas Project. Existing permits allow limited production testing and oil and gas sales, but long-term production and broader development require further approvals. Trio ended operations at California’s McCool Ranch after concluding that its steam-based production process was not economically viable under the agreed terms, including natural-gas and water-disposal costs.

Cash from oil sales depends on production volumes, oil prices and operating costs. Revenue remains insufficient to cover operating needs, so Trio depends on additional equity and debt financing to keep operating and develop its properties.

  • Canadian Natural and Trio Petroleum both sell heavy oil produced in Saskatchewan, so Canadian heavy-oil prices and provincial operating conditions affect both companies’ oil revenue. Watch Canadian Natural’s heavy-oil business rather than its broader oil and gas results when assessing conditions for Trio’s active Saskatchewan wells.

  • California Resources and Trio Petroleum both develop California oil properties, so local operating costs and restrictions matter to both even as Trio shifts production toward Saskatchewan. California Resources’ news on costs at its California oil fields is worth watching for Trio’s South Salinas project.

  • Barnwell Industries and Trio Petroleum both acquire Canadian oil properties and earn revenue from selling their production, leaving both exposed to Canadian oil sale prices and regulatory obligations. Watch the prices Barnwell receives from its Canadian oil buyers after quality and transportation adjustments; its Alberta licensing requirements are separate from Trio’s Saskatchewan exposure.

  • EON Resources offers a comparison for Trio Petroleum’s plan to increase Saskatchewan heavy-oil output by repairing and improving existing wells: EON uses those workovers and water injection to recover more oil for sale. Watch the additional oil EON produces from improved wells, while keeping its New Mexico operations distinct from Trio’s Saskatchewan properties.

  • PEDEVCO’s approach of buying older oil fields and improving their operation parallels Trio Petroleum’s plan to lift Saskatchewan production through workovers. Watch whether PEDEVCO’s field improvements increase oil available for sale to independent buyers—a useful comparison for Trio’s acquired fields, whose higher output drove its revenue growth.

  • Empire Petroleum and Trio Petroleum both sell oil from producing properties and pursue acquisitions, so the money left from oil sales after costs and the price paid for fields matter to both. Watch Empire’s prices from third-party oil buyers after quality adjustments, and its reports of better-funded rivals bidding for properties.

  • Gran Tierra Energy and Trio Petroleum both produce oil in Canada and are growing revenue through Canadian properties, but Gran Tierra’s results remain mostly tied to Colombia. Watch its Canadian revenue separately: Canada generated 19% of revenue in the year ended December 31, 2025, versus 3% in 2024, while Colombia still generated 70% in 2025.
