Synaptics Inc supplies technology that lets electronic devices connect wirelessly, process information and respond to touch, voice and images. Enterprise and Automotive products bring in most revenue, including PC touch pads, fingerprint sensing, video interfaces and automotive solutions. Core IoT wireless and processor products are the next-largest business; its Astra family combines processing, connectivity and sensing for AI-enabled devices. Mobile-phone touch and display products contribute a smaller share.
Device makers choose whether to include Synaptics products in their designs and influence technical requirements and pricing. Their contract manufacturers, design manufacturers and distributors typically place orders, receive the products and pay Synaptics. Product shipments generate most revenue. A limited number of large customers account for a significant share of sales, so winning a place in a device design only turns into revenue if the customer launches the device and keeps ordering.
Synaptics outsources chip fabrication, assembly and testing, mainly to suppliers in Asia. Its ability to deliver therefore depends on those partners’ capacity, quality and schedules. Export controls and sanctions can prohibit sales to certain customers or require technology export licenses.
Synaptics continues to operate independently pending its proposed merger with onsemi, which requires shareholder and regulatory approvals. Until closing, the merger agreement limits certain acquisitions, asset sales, capital spending and borrowing.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Silicon Laboratories competes with Synaptics for sales of chips that connect IoT devices wirelessly, including Wi-Fi products. Its IoT wireless-chip business is the part to watch alongside Synaptics’ Core IoT wireless products.
Broadcom competes with Synaptics in wireless chips but also licenses technology that supports Synaptics’ future Wi-Fi products. Watch delivery of the roadmap technologies Synaptics secured rights to license in January 2025, expected at various dates through May 2028.
NXP competes with Synaptics for device manufacturers buying embedded processors and connectivity chips for industrial, automotive and connected consumer products. NXP’s Industrial & IoT business is a useful comparison for the markets Synaptics targets with Astra edge-AI processors.
Microchip competes with Synaptics for customers buying embedded processors, microcontrollers and connectivity solutions for industrial, automotive and human-interface applications. Watch its specialized microcontrollers for those uses, where its hardware, software and services can meet a large portion of customers’ chip needs.
Cirrus Logic competes with Synaptics to sell electronics manufacturers the chips and software that provide audio and voice functions. Its Audio revenue, rather than its camera, haptics and power products, is the closer comparison for Synaptics’ audio business.
STMicroelectronics competes with Synaptics for manufacturers buying microcontrollers, microprocessors and sensing solutions for industrial, automotive and personal electronics. Watch ST’s offerings in those products and markets rather than treating its much broader chip portfolio as a direct match for Synaptics.
Semtech competes with Synaptics to supply wireless chips and connectivity solutions to manufacturers of connected industrial and consumer devices. Its wireless products and IoT modules are more relevant to Synaptics’ connectivity business than its data-communications products.
NXP Semiconductors N.V. earningsNXPI
NXP’s report will show demand for embedded processors and connectivity among industrial and IoT customers, a market signal for Synaptics’ Astra processors.
Look at sales and demand in NXP’s Industrial & IoT business. Strength would suggest device makers are still buying processors and connectivity solutions, a supportive market for Synaptics’ products aimed at similar uses. Weakness would point to more cautious customer spending or production, but would not establish whether Synaptics won or lost a design.
Silicon Laboratories Inc earningsSLAB
Silicon Labs’ report will show how its IoT wireless chips are selling, a direct read on the market for Synaptics’ competing Core IoT wireless products.
Look at sales and demand commentary for Silicon Labs’ IoT wireless chips. Strength would show device makers are still buying wireless connectivity, supporting the market Synaptics’ Core IoT wireless products compete in. Weakness could mean customers are buying less or choosing other suppliers, raising demand or competitive pressure on Synaptics; it would not prove a change in Synaptics’ own sales.
Cirrus Logic Inc earningsCRUS
Cirrus Logic’s report will show how its Audio business is selling, a read on the audio-chip and software market it shares with Synaptics.
Focus on Cirrus Logic’s Audio revenue and demand commentary, not its other products. Strength would show electronics makers are still buying audio chips and software, supporting the market for Synaptics’ audio products. Weakness could signal softer demand or tougher competition for Synaptics, but Cirrus Logic’s results are not a measure of Synaptics’ sales.

Synaptics’ report will show whether Core IoT growth can offset changes in Enterprise and Automotive and pressure in Mobile.
Read revenue for Core IoT, Enterprise and Automotive, and Mobile together, then compare Core IoT shipments with its average selling price. Core IoT growth alongside steady Enterprise and Automotive sales would show those businesses supporting Synaptics; a stabilizing Mobile business would make growth more balanced. If Core IoT slows, other categories weaken, or lower average selling prices drag on revenue, growth is not offsetting demand or pricing pressure.
Broadcom Inc. earningsAVGO
Broadcom’s report or specific updates may offer an indirect signal about the wireless technology roadmap Synaptics can license for future Wi-Fi products, but its results alone cannot confirm delivery.
Synaptics has rights to license technologies from Broadcom’s roadmap for future Wi-Fi products. Specific news of progress, or strength in Broadcom’s wireless business, would ease concern about that technology source; delays or weakness would make its availability for Synaptics’ future products less certain. Without an explicit roadmap or delivery update, Broadcom’s results are only an indirect signal.
