Slide Insurance Holdings, Inc. provides property insurance for homeowners, condominium owners and commercial residential properties in Florida and South Carolina. Policyholders pay premiums in exchange for coverage of insured losses. Premiums supply most of its revenue; it also earns investment income on money held before claims are paid. Its business is heavily concentrated in Florida.
Slide obtains policies by taking over groups of policies from other insurers, renewing them and selling new coverage through independent agents or directly to consumers. A substantial share of historical revenue came from policies taken over from Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, Florida’s state-owned insurer of last resort, and other Florida insurers. Slide rewrites assumed Citizens policies at its own rates and coverage when they renew. Further policy acquisitions depend partly on Citizens continuing its program and on acceptable acquisition terms.
Profitability depends on charging enough to cover claims, operating expenses and reinsurance. Slide pays other insurers to absorb catastrophe losses above agreed thresholds; this reinsurance is its largest cost, and its price and availability influence how much business Slide can write. State rules constrain rate increases, cancellations and nonrenewals, while Citizens agreements require Slide to offer continued renewals for qualifying assumed policies.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Slide’s results hinge on Florida hurricane losses, reinsurance costs and continued policy transfers and renewals from Citizens, Florida’s state-owned insurer of last resort.
HCI Group, Inc. competes with Slide for premiums from Florida homeowners and other residential property customers in northeastern and southeastern U.S. states through Homeowners Choice and TypTap. Those businesses’ homeowners insurance premiums are the line to watch for competition in Slide’s markets.
American Integrity Insurance Group, Inc. competes with Slide for premiums from Florida single-family homeowners and condominium owners, exposing both companies’ earnings to the same hurricane-prone market. Its Florida residential claims are worth watching alongside Slide’s hurricane losses.
HERITAGE INSURANCE HOLDINGS INC competes with Slide for premiums from personal and commercial residential property customers in Florida and other eastern coastal states. Watch its pricing and geographic concentration of residential policies: Heritage uses both, along with reinsurance costs, to decide which risks to insure.
Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc. competes with Slide for homeowners’ premiums, including Florida policies sold through independent agents. Watch its agent relationships and rapid-quoting technology: Universal relies on them to attract and retain business, while Slide’s Violet system helps agents issue policies within minutes.
Palomar Holdings, Inc. and Slide both need customer premiums that adequately price disaster risk and affordable coverage from other insurers to absorb large losses, known as reinsurance. Palomar’s catastrophe-exposed specialty property business therefore offers a comparison for the pricing and reinsurance pressures on Slide’s coastal residential insurance.

Universal Insurance Holdings’ report will show whether its agents and rapid quoting are drawing homeowners, a test of how fiercely it competes with Slide Insurance Holdings, Inc. for Florida premiums.
Watch Universal’s homeowners business through agents, and whether agent relationships and fast quoting support new policies and renewals. Strong agent-driven business would point to stiff competition for the same Florida customers and a harder contest for Slide; weakness or waning channel appeal would suggest less pressure.
Slide Insurance Holdings, Inc. earningsThis company
Slide Insurance Holdings, Inc. earns underwriting profit only when premiums cover claims and expenses, and this report will show whether its expanded policy base still does.
Read the combined ratio, the loss ratio plus the expense ratio; below 100% means earned premiums exceed claims and expenses. If it stays low, the larger policy base has not pushed underwriting costs up; if it rises, especially because the loss ratio climbs, claims are eating into premiums, and the key question is whether pricing is keeping pace with risk.
