Company

Company overview

Dave & Buster’s Entertainment serves adults, families and teenagers through its Dave & Buster’s and Main Event venues, primarily in North America. Dave & Buster’s combines arcade games, dining and live sports viewing; Main Event also offers attractions such as bowling and laser tag. Customers buy credits loaded onto cards or other electronic devices to activate most games, and pay for food and drinks during their visits. Some games award tickets that customers exchange for prizes. Entertainment brings in most of the revenue, with food and beverages supplying the rest.

The business depends on customers choosing to spend discretionary money on outings and on visitor traffic around its shopping and entertainment-center locations. Most Dave & Buster’s stores are leased, and closing an unprofitable store generally does not end its rent obligations. Alcohol sales require licenses, while local amusement rules can restrict the games offered, tickets awarded and prizes available.

Dave & Buster’s depends more on paid game visits and family entertainment spending than restaurant demand alone: entertainment generated 62.9% of its fiscal 2025 revenue.

  • United Parks & Resorts and Dave & Buster’s both depend on households choosing to pay for outings: United Parks sells theme-park admission and purchases inside its parks, while Dave & Buster’s sells games and dining. Watch United Parks’ admission revenue for a read on spending on paid attractions, rather than restaurant meals alone.

  • BJ’s Restaurants competes for the casual meals and social outings that bring customers to Dave & Buster’s, selling food, craft beer and bar drinks in restaurants equipped with televisions rather than charging for games. Its food and beverage sales are the line to watch for competition on the dining side of Dave & Buster’s.

  • Brinker International’s Chili’s competes with Dave & Buster’s for customers seeking American casual meals, drinks and good-value social outings, while Dave & Buster’s also sells games and other entertainment. Watch Chili’s value-priced 3 for Me meals as an alternative for diners deciding where to spend on a meal together.

  • Darden Restaurants’ full-service brands, including Yard House, compete with Dave & Buster’s for customers spending on meals, drinks and group outings; Darden earns primarily from food and beverages, while Dave & Buster’s combines dining with paid entertainment. Darden’s food and beverage sales offer a comparison for the dining part of Dave & Buster’s, not its game revenue.

    Fed Interest Rate Decision

For Dave & Buster’s, the Fed’s policy rate—the rate that guides borrowing costs—matters because higher rates can increase interest paid on debt and leave less cash for running and investing in its venues.

    JOLTs Job Openings (Sep)

JOLTS tracks job openings, and more openings can make it harder for Dave & Buster’s to hire the venue staff who serve guests and run attractions, while pushing up labor costs.

United Parks & Resorts earns from theme-park admissions and spending inside its parks, so its admission revenue offers a read on demand for paid attractions that also matters to Dave & Buster’s.

    Non Farm Payrolls (Oct)

The monthly jobs report counts jobs added or lost and tracks employment conditions; for Dave & Buster’s, a tighter labor market can make staffing its venues harder and raise the cost of paying staff.
