Company

Company overview

PLDT connects consumers and businesses primarily in the Philippines through its mobile and fixed-line networks. Smart and TNT serve mobile users, most of whom buy prepaid service. Mobile data supplies most mobile revenue, rather than calls or text messages. PLDT Home earns from households paying for fiber broadband plans, with optional entertainment bundles and other add-ons.

Fixed-line services bring in more revenue than wireless services. Alongside home broadband, PLDT Enterprise sells businesses and government institutions internet access, private data connections and services that host and manage their computing systems, including data centers, cloud and cybersecurity. Data services account for most fixed-line service revenue.

The business depends on customers’ demand for data and PLDT’s continued spending on network capacity, coverage and upgrades. Mobile service also requires sufficient radio spectrum. PLDT must maintain the relevant operating approvals and spectrum assignments; data-transmission services now operate under registration-based regulation rather than franchise and operating-certificate requirements.

Know what’s buried in PHI’s filings before you buy

The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.

PLDT’s results depend chiefly on Philippine mobile-data and fiber-broadband demand and competition with Globe and Converge ICT Solutions, neither of which appears in this list.

  • Telkom Indonesia shares PLDT’s exposure to Southeast Asia’s shift toward data spending: both sell mobile and broadband connections to consumers and connectivity and IT services to businesses. Watch digital-business revenue at its mobile subsidiary Telkomsel for a regional comparison with PLDT’s growing mobile-internet revenue.

  • IDT Corporation competes with PLDT for cross-border call traffic: its IDT Global unit and PLDT Global both charge carriers to carry international calls, a wholesale voice service. Watch IDT Global’s call traffic as a competitive signal for PLDT Global’s wholesale international voice revenue, whose traffic-led growth lifted PLDT’s fixed-line voice revenue in 2025.
