Company

Company overview

PAMT CORP’s subsidiaries move goods such as automotive parts and retail merchandise in enclosed truck trailers. Customers pay it to collect freight and deliver it to an agreed destination. Most revenue comes from truckload services using company-owned trucks or contractors; the rest comes from brokerage and logistics services that arrange transportation mainly through third-party carriers.

U.S. domestic shipments provide most revenue, but freight moving to or from Mexico is also a major part of the business. PAMT works with Mexican carriers, making those services dependent on carrier relationships and border crossings. Canadian shipments contribute only a small share.

A substantial share of revenue comes from a few large customers, including General Motors, Ford and Walmart. The broader automotive industry is particularly important, and PAMT generally has no long-term contracts with major customers. Revenue depends on freight rates, how much its equipment runs and how much mileage customers pay for. Its ability to recover diesel costs through freight rates and fuel surcharges also matters.

  • Werner Enterprises Inc competes with PAMT CORP for retailers’ and manufacturers’ dry-van, urgent and cross-border Mexico truckloads. Its One-Way Truckload business is the part to watch for overlapping van and time-sensitive shipments.

  • Heartland Express Inc competes with PAMT CORP to carry major U.S. shippers’ dry-van and time-sensitive loads using their own trucks. Heartland’s emphasis on premium rates and on-time delivery makes its service pricing worth watching, though its business leans toward shorter hauls.

  • Covenant Logistics Group, Inc. competes with PAMT CORP both to haul shippers’ full truckloads, including urgent freight, and to arrange transport through other carriers. Watch its Managed Freight revenue for the latter overlap: that business supplied 27.08% of Covenant’s 2025 revenue excluding fuel surcharges.

  • Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings Inc. competes with PAMT CORP to haul general goods by the truckload and arrange other carriers to move customers’ freight across North America. Its Truckload and Logistics businesses are the relevant comparison, rather than its less-than-truckload or rail-linked services.

  • Schneider National, Inc. competes with PAMT CORP for North American shippers’ loads, both carrying freight in dry-van trucks and arranging other carriers to transport it.

  • PAMT CORP depends on transportation orders from General Motors Company, which supplied approximately 14% of PAMT’s 2025 revenue. GM builds and sells vehicles and parts; its production and shipping decisions are the news to watch for PAMT’s automotive freight demand.

  • Ford Motor Company’s manufacturing activity feeds PAMT CORP’s freight demand: Ford bought transportation services accounting for approximately 9% of PAMT’s 2025 revenue. Watch production of the Ford and Lincoln vehicles it sells, rather than its vehicle-financing business.

  • Marten Transport Ltd competes with PAMT CORP to carry shippers’ dry freight and arrange transport through other carriers, including in Mexico, but is more exposed to refrigerated freight. Dry freight supplied 41% of Marten’s 2025 Truckload and Dedicated revenue, so that portion is the closer comparison.

  • Landstar System Inc competes with PAMT CORP to arrange outside carriers for customers’ truckload and urgent freight across the United States and Mexico. Its truck transportation activity is the comparison to watch for PAMT’s brokerage and logistics business, rather than Landstar’s insurance revenue.

  • Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc. competes with PAMT CORP for manufacturers’ and retailers’ transportation orders across North America, including cross-border Mexico freight. That overlap matters for PAMT: shipments to or from Mexico supplied 44.2% of its 2025 revenue.

  • J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc competes with PAMT CORP to carry shippers’ general merchandise, manufactured goods and automotive freight in dry vans and to arrange transport through other carriers. Its Truckload and Integrated Capacity Solutions businesses are the closest comparisons for those two services.

  • Walmart Inc. pays PAMT CORP to transport freight and supplied approximately 8% of PAMT’s 2025 revenue. Walmart sells goods through stores and online, making this a retail-customer exposure for PAMT rather than an automotive one.

  • ArcBest Corporation competes with PAMT CORP through MoLo, which arranges truckload transport for shippers, and Panther, which carries urgent ground freight. Watch those businesses within its Asset-Light segment for the overlap with PAMT’s brokerage and time-sensitive transportation.

  • Stellantis N.V.’s plant shutdowns can reach PAMT CORP through the automotive supply chains it serves: shutdowns during the 2023 strike contributed to PAMT’s financial weakness in the third and fourth quarters of 2023 and first quarter of 2024. Stellantis builds and sells vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico, making North American plant stoppages the news to watch.
