Phibro Animal Health Corporation supplies livestock producers with products to prevent, control and treat disease and support animal nutrition. Producers buy from Phibro directly or through feed manufacturers, distributors and veterinarians. Animal Health supplies most revenue, and medicated products account for more than half of company sales. Vaccines and nutritional specialties also contribute. Its customers are varied; it does not depend on any single buyer or small group of buyers.
Its next-largest business sells minerals that fortify animal feed, mainly to North American customers. Demand depends on livestock production and customers’ inventory levels, while mineral prices largely follow commodity-metal costs. A much smaller business sells ingredients to personal-care and industrial-chemical customers.
The business depends on maintaining product approvals and on the permitted uses of animal medicines. Brazil has prohibited virginiamycin feed additives for performance enhancement, with existing-label sales and use allowed during a transition period; Phibro is seeking approval for therapeutic uses. In the United States, Mecadox remains available to swine producers, but the FDA has proposed withdrawing its approval after revoking the approved method for detecting carbadox residues in edible tissues. Phibro is contesting those actions.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Phibro’s results hinge on livestock-health spending and antibiotic regulation; privately held Huvepharma and Boehringer Ingelheim are also important competitors to watch beyond this list.
Elanco competes with Phibro for livestock producers’ spending on products that improve cattle, poultry and swine performance and prevent or treat disease. Its farm-animal sales, rather than its pet business, are the part to watch for demand shared with Phibro.
Zoetis competes with Phibro to sell livestock medicines and vaccines to overlapping buyers, but also sold it a substantial source of revenue. The products Phibro acquired—including additives that deliver medication through feed—contributed $358.2 million to Phibro’s sales in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026.
Merck’s Animal Health business competes with Phibro to sell livestock medicines and vaccines to animal producers, veterinarians and distributors. Watch that business’s sales rather than Merck’s overall results, which are dominated by human pharmaceuticals.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Phibro’s policy-rate exposure runs through its substantial term loans and revolving borrowings: when rates reset, interest it pays can rise or fall, changing earnings and cash available for operations.

If it comes in above expectations
If the Fed’s rate decision is higher than expected, borrowing costs can rise on debt that reprices, leaving less cash for Phibro’s animal-health, mineral-nutrition and other operations; its swaps hedge some, but not all, rate exposure.
If it comes in below expectations
If the Fed’s rate decision is lower than expected, borrowing costs can ease on debt that reprices, leaving Phibro more cash for operations, though its swaps hedge some rate exposure.
Phibro Animal Health Corporation earningsThis company
Phibro’s report will show whether sales of animal-health products, including medicated feed additives, are sustaining growth without higher costs eroding gross margin.
Read sales of Animal Health’s MFAs and other products alongside gross margin. Rising sales with a stable or higher margin would show that demand, pricing and product mix are keeping pace with input and distribution costs; weaker sales or a falling margin would show that growth or pricing is not covering those costs, putting the profitability of Phibro’s animal-health business under pressure.
Elanco Animal Health Incorporated earningsELAN
Elanco’s farm-animal sales will show whether cattle, poultry and swine producers are maintaining spending on disease-control and performance products, markets it shares with Phibro.
Focus on Elanco’s farm-animal sales, not its pet business. Stronger sales would show that livestock customers are still spending on disease-control and animal-performance products, supporting demand in markets Phibro also serves; weaker sales would suggest tighter customer spending and a harder market for Phibro to win orders in.
