Company

Company overview

Norwood Financial Corp serves households, local businesses and municipalities through Wayne Bank in northeastern Pennsylvania and parts of New York. The bank takes deposits and uses deposits and borrowings to fund loans and investments in securities. Borrowers pay interest on mortgages, consumer loans and business loans, while securities provide another source of interest income. After funding costs, this interest income accounts for most of the company’s revenue.

Banking service fees provide a smaller revenue stream. Wayne Bank also manages investments and provides estate and financial planning, generally charging clients according to the assets it manages. Lending is heavily concentrated in its local markets, with commercial real estate the largest loan category, tying the business closely to borrowers in those communities.

The parent company relies principally on dividends from Wayne Bank to fund shareholder dividends. Banking regulations limit how much the bank can transfer to the parent, including restrictions tied to profits and required capital.
