Company

Company overview

New Era Energy & Digital has changed its main focus from helium exploration to digital infrastructure and data-center development. Its existing revenue still comes mainly from natural-gas sales, with natural-gas liquids supplying the remainder; the new business has yet to generate revenue.

The company plans to provide data-center facilities and power to large AI computing tenants, including at its flagship TCDC project in Texas. Tenants would pay base rent and service fees under long-term leases, with payments due even when they do not use the capacity. The facilities have not yet been constructed, and discussions with prospective tenants have not produced binding contracts. The initial business would depend on a small number of these tenants.

Getting to revenue requires additional equity and debt funding, permits and completed construction. The company plans to generate power behind the utility meter, but Texas rules governing large electricity users could restrict grid connections and limit backup access to grid power.

  • New Era owes SharonAI Holdings, Inc. $70 million for its stake in their gas-powered Texas data-center venture, tying shareholders to acquisition payments and possible dilution—not purchases of SharonAI’s AI computing services. Watch the $50 million secured convertible note and $10 million equity payment: restrictions on issuing shares could force New Era to pay cash, with a funding shortfall risking default.

  • Antero Resources and New Era share exposure to natural gas and natural gas liquids prices and demand: those fuels accounted for all New Era’s reported 2025 revenue. Antero produces them in Appalachia for domestic and international markets, making its gas and liquids sales more relevant to New Era than its oil business.

  • Expand Energy and New Era earn revenue from selling natural gas and natural gas liquids, so the same commodity markets affect both. Expand generally prices those sales using published indices or local daily spot prices; the prices it receives offer a read on the markets behind New Era’s operating revenue.

  • EQT’s gas production business shares New Era’s exposure to natural gas prices, but EQT also owns infrastructure that collects and transports gas. Focus on EQT’s upstream results from fuel sales and derivatives rather than its gathering and transmission businesses when judging what its results mean for New Era.

  • Diversified Energy Company and New Era share exposure to natural gas and natural gas liquids prices and the margins left from producing them. Diversified produces, transports and sells these fuels from mature, long-life U.S. wells; its gas-production economics are the useful comparison for New Era, not its oil sales.

  • Epsilon Energy Ltd. and New Era both produce natural gas, so gas prices and the cost of getting it to market matter to both. Epsilon also holds an interest in a system that collects gas from wells; New Era’s 2025 gathering and processing costs reduced $2.52 million of gas sales to $645,478 in net gas revenue, making those costs especially worth watching.
