Golar LNG helps gas-resource owners turn gas into liquefied natural gas aboard offshore vessels, including resources that are difficult to develop with land-based plants. These floating liquefaction operations generate most of its revenue: customers pay for contracted processing capacity, with payments depending on vessel availability and performance. Golar has exited its former LNG shipping business.
FLNG Gimi serves bp’s Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project offshore Mauritania and Senegal. bp pays for the vessel and its operation under a long-term agreement, with payments independent of oil and gas prices and most budgeted operating costs reimbursed. Golar depends on a small number of customer arrangements. Hilli’s Cameroon contract with Perenco and Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH), historically its largest revenue source, was scheduled to end in July 2026.
Golar plans to upgrade Hilli in Singapore before redeploying it to Argentina for SESA in 2027. It is also converting Fuji LNG into MKII FLNG for a separate SESA contract, with operations planned for 2028. Both Argentina contracts combine fixed fees with payments that vary with LNG selling prices, and SESA bears most budgeted operating costs. Bringing these contracts into operation depends on completing the vessel work, commissioning and obtaining required approvals; Hilli’s transition is expected to temporarily reduce earnings.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Golar’s results hinge on reliable floating LNG operations and long-term payments from bp and SESA, with Argentina’s Hilli and MKII projects driving much of its future contracted earnings.
Golar’s Argentine vessel earnings depend on gas supplied by YPF, which owns 25% of SESA, the project company paying to charter Hilli and MKII. Watch YPF’s Vaca Muerta gas supply and the dedicated pipeline’s progress: they support the gas flow those floating liquefaction vessels need.
PAMPA ENERGIA S.A. supplies gas under 20-year agreements to SESA, which pays Golar to charter Hilli and MKII, and owns 20% of that project company. Its gas deliveries and work on the dedicated pipeline, in which it also holds 20%, are concrete signs to watch for the Argentine vessels’ operating readiness.
New Fortress Energy Inc.’s Fast LNG facilities offer an alternative to Golar’s vessels for turning natural gas into liquid offshore, making it a rival for offshore liquefaction projects.
Cheniere Energy and Golar both earn from long-term commitments to turn gas into LNG, using land-based plants and floating vessels respectively. Cheniere’s energy-company, utility and trading customers generally owe fixed fees even when they cancel cargoes, making its contracted LNG sales a useful comparison for Golar’s long-term vessel payments.
Venture Global builds LNG export plants and sells their output, while Golar earns fees from floating liquefaction vessels; both depend on global LNG demand and viable project economics. Watch Venture Global’s prices on commissioning and excess-production sales for a view of the LNG market that also determines Golar’s commodity-linked upside in Argentina.
NextDecade Corporation’s Rio Grande LNG project offers a comparison for Golar’s floating projects: both rely on customers committing to long-term payments for liquefaction capacity. Rio Grande’s LNG buyers pay fixed fees plus charges covering gas and other sourcing costs, and its contract start dates are tied to specified production units—watch when those units bring contracted revenue into service.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Fed’s rate decision signals the direction of short-term borrowing costs; for Golar, higher rates can raise interest paid on its floating-rate debt and leave less cash for operations and investment.

If it comes in above expectations
Higher-than-expected rates could increase interest costs on Golar’s unhedged floating-rate borrowing, leaving less cash for operations and investment.
If it comes in below expectations
Lower-than-expected rates could reduce interest costs on Golar’s unhedged floating-rate borrowing, leaving more cash for operations and investment.
Cheniere Energy Inc earningsLNG
Cheniere Energy’s report shows whether fixed-fee contracts keep its revenue steady as cargo activity changes, a useful comparison for Golar LNG’s long-term vessel fees.
Read Cheniere’s contracted revenue alongside cargo activity. If contracted revenue holds as cargo activity changes, its fixed fees show how liquefaction income can be insulated from cargo movements; if revenue moves with cargo activity, that protection is less evident. It is a comparison of contract models, not evidence about Golar LNG’s own customers’ payments.
NextDecade Corporation earningsNEXT
NextDecade Corporation’s report will show when Rio Grande LNG’s contracted capacity may begin generating revenue, offering a project-delivery comparison for Golar LNG’s conversions.
Watch the progress of NextDecade’s production units and when contracted revenue is due to begin. Progress on schedule would show a large liquefaction project moving from construction into fee income; delays would show how construction can push that income back. This is a project-delivery comparison: Golar LNG’s Hilli refurbishment and MKII conversion still depend on their own execution.
PAMPA ENERGIA S.A. earningsPAM
Pampa Energy’s report will show whether its gas deliveries and dedicated-pipeline work are advancing the supply SESA needs for Golar LNG’s Argentine vessels.
Read Pampa’s gas-supply progress alongside the dedicated pipeline’s progress. Reliable supply and work advancing on the pipeline would leave SESA better placed to provide gas for Golar LNG’s Hilli and MKII; delays in either would raise the risk that the Argentine projects lack feed gas when needed.
Golar LNG Ltd earningsThis company
This report will show whether Golar LNG can keep FLNG revenue steady with Gimi and its other business after Hilli’s Cameroon contract ends.
Read FLNG revenue alongside adjusted EBITDA, Golar’s measure of operating performance, and watch Hilli’s refurbishment and redeployment progress. If both measures hold after the Cameroon contract ends, Gimi and the rest of the business are filling the revenue gap; if they weaken markedly, the transition is weighing on operations and the start of the Argentina charter matters more.
New Fortress Energy Inc. earningsNFE
New Fortress Energy’s report will show whether Fast LNG is becoming a practical competitor to Golar LNG’s floating liquefaction projects.
Watch progress on Fast LNG facilities and any customer commitments. Advancing projects with customer backing would give Golar LNG a more concrete rival for offshore liquefaction work; stalled projects or limited commercial progress would make near-term competitive pressure less evident, not rule out future competition.
Venture Global, Inc. earningsVG
Venture Global’s report will show pricing on commissioning and excess-production sales, a market clue for Golar LNG’s commodity-linked upside in Argentina.
Watch Venture Global’s commissioning progress and prices on excess-production sales. Smooth commissioning and supported prices would point to favorable LNG project economics and offer a positive market clue for Golar LNG’s commodity-linked upside in Argentina; weaker progress or prices would offer less support. The pricing is not the same: Golar’s related upside is linked to Brent and TTF, so Venture Global’s sales prices cannot be used to calculate it.
