Company overview

Griffon owns and manages businesses, with most revenue coming from Clopay’s residential and commercial garage doors, rolling steel doors and grilles. Clopay sells to professional installing dealers and home-center chains, including Home Depot and Menards, for which it is the exclusive garage-door supplier across North America. Most Clopay sales serve home remodeling and renovation; commercial construction, repair and replacement, and new housing provide the rest.

Its other business sells tools and home products through retailers, distributors and e-commerce platforms. Brands include AMES and True Temper for tools, Hunter for fans and ClosetMaid for storage and organization. This business increasingly relies on outside manufacturers after shifting several U.S. product lines to global sourcing.

Griffon depends on renovation and construction demand and on a small group of major retail customers. Home Depot buys from both businesses; Menards is important to Clopay, while Lowe’s and Bunnings are important to the tools and home-products business. International sourcing also makes supplier reliability and U.S. trade rules important. Tariffs affect sourcing costs, and U.S. forced-labor import rules can hold up shipments while suppliers’ production chains are verified.

Griffon also depends on major customers missing from this list: Menards for Clopay garage doors and Bunnings for CPP products.

  • Janus International Group, Inc. competes with Griffon’s Clopay to supply commercial doors to industrial and commercial facilities, including replacement and renovation projects. Watch Janus’s commercial-door and facility-renovation business for signs of demand in markets Clopay also serves.

  • Griffon depends on Home Depot’s purchases of garage doors and CPP products: the retailer accounted for 10% of Griffon’s consolidated revenue in 2025. Home Depot’s sales to homeowners and renovation professionals offer a read on the home-improvement spending that also supports Griffon.

  • Lowe’s is a significant buyer of Griffon’s CPP products, and losing that customer would materially hurt Griffon. Watch its sales to homeowners and small- to medium-sized repair and remodeling professionals for a read on the spending behind this retail channel.

  • Masco’s branded paint, plumbing fixtures and hardware draw on the same home-renovation spending that supports Griffon’s garage doors and CPP products. Its Decorative Architectural Products sales are worth watching, especially in the second and third calendar quarters when repair and remodeling activity normally peaks.

  • Owens Corning sells roofing, insulation and doors into building projects that also create demand for Griffon’s garage doors. Its sales across those three businesses offer another view of spending on building repair, renovation and construction.

  • UFP Industries, Inc. shares Griffon’s exposure to home-improvement purchases, supplying decking and other building products through big-box retailers and distributors. Watch UFP Retail Solutions’ sales through those channels for a read on demand alongside Griffon’s garage doors and CPP products.
